Today my Xerox Phaser 6250 had a message stating that it needed a new Imaging Unit, so I installed one. After I completed the installation an error message appeared reading "reseat or install new imaging unit". I tried reseating the imaging unit several times, I cleaned the area around where the unit sits, I turned the printer on and off several times, I then reinstalled the old imaging unit to see if that would make the error message go away, it didn't :( When I spoke to customer service at xerox they said my "v clips" had popped out? I'm not sure where these are and I do not want to pay a technician $100s for 5 seconds of work. If anyone knows how I can go about fixing this please let me know :) Thank you for your time and consideration.
Worked like a charm! Thank you for the detailed information. The step by step instructions were right on target.
It worked like a charm with the following exceptions:
1. Left cover Removal: required a phillips screw driver to remove 4 screwss
2. and a little forceful-cave-man approach to undoing the plastic hooks and forcing the left cover out of its location (primarily the top cover gave me the most trouble, followed by protruding wedge on the fron cover
3. The solution's STEP: "If you follow tek-tips.com solution and if you marks the round gear with the horizontal gear on their touching point in the first place you would see it should be off by one or two gears."
Should be inserted after removing the left cover, SINCE THIS PROBLEM IS REALLY ABOUT A GEAR SKEEPING TEETH ON A SECONDARY GEAR; ALL OF WHICH WORK TOGETHER TO CONNECT THE INK COLORS TO THE IMAGING COMPONENT AS YOU CLOSE THE TOP COVER. ([email protected])
Followed your procedure and it Worked great!
I admit I was a little confused by your instructions until I actually opened up the left cover and saw the vertical/horizontal/round gears for myself. After opening it, I could see the problem and it all made perfect sense!
Thanks!
I had this exact problem with two of the 6250s at the office. After reseating the imaging unit, try turning the printer off and unplugging it for 10 minutes or so. Plug it back in and turn it on. It very well may function properly when restarted. This DID WORK for both of my units.
Electronics counts end replace new new imaging unit
Phaser 6200/6250 Imaging unit reseat (not being recognize) This seems to be a common problem after paper got jam or imaging unit was removed. There is chance that gears was shifted and not pushing the color toner couplers (with sensor) far enough to reach the imaging unit. The solution is to realign the rack V gears. Xerox pn# 116-1630-00 Kit,Rack V (gear, racks) diagram list at; http://www.office.xerox.com/userdoc/P6250/6250_Web/partslist/#LinkTarget_7864 (facing the printer at your left hand side with top and left side open) It compose of one vertical gear rack driving behind the round gear and moving the horizontal gear rack then pushing the toner couplers into the imaging unit. I found this solution from http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=890737&page=9 My alignment procedure is as following; Have the imaging unit, toners removed, top and left side cover opened. Close the imaging cover or lock so that the VERTICAL rack is push down. Open the retaining clips at the center of the round gear and start loosen it by pulling it out slowly. Keep pushing the Horizontal gear rack to the front while disengaging the round gear. It will loose touch with the vertical gear rack then the horizontal rack and the vertical rack will drop further. Now the round gear is off and vertical rack is dropped. While keep pushing the horizontal rack to the front and keep the vertical rack up (not dropped) ease the round gear back. The hard part is not to gear on the horizontal rack, it is the vertical rack which is hidden by the round gear. If you follow tek-tips.com solution and if you marks the round gear with the horizontal gear on their touching point in the first place you would see it should be off by one or two gears. The goal is to have the horizontal rack being pushed to the front at much as possible while the imaging unit cover is close. You should manually test the correct position by pushing the horizontal rack to the front, it will move said one eighth of an inch and at the same time the vertical rack should drop to the bottom limit. When you release the horizontal rack the vertical rack should touch the top cover metal bar again. Good luck and keep helping each others.
