Hi, I have a Dometic Duo therm 57915.331 ducted roof air on my 2003 Cherokee camper that has failed. The Problem is: The fan will come on with the thermostat but will not cool at all. I think the compressor is not working at all. I did take off the shroud and inspect inside, all looks normal, the cooling lines are not cold or hot while running. I did replace the start cap and had no results. The unit was working well about a month ago. This camper is at a seasonal site about 80 miles from my home. I was hopeing to get a check list to try when I go back down before considering replacing the unit. I think its a 2002 build date with only minimal use here in MN. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks

hi,
you have to run a contractor grade extension cord(10-12 gauge) from your rv to run those or theyll do that, the lower the gauge the better, best bet is to plug the rv directly into the outlet, if you cant, get the shortest and thickest extension cord you can.

how old is unit and does it have refrigerant in it

When the cooling slows down, but water is still running off, usually something is icing up. You can turn the unit off, and let it thaw, and try again. Sometimes, if the humidity is high, this is more pronounced. It sounds like you are low on refrigerant. That implies that you have a slight leak. You should have the unit serviced, and the leak repaired.

Remove the filter at ceiling and run the AC on cool etc, and see if you can feel cool air leaking across to return air inlet where the divider between cold and return is. Check along all edges, etc for any cool air . Careful of wiring, but you should be able to get hand in there and feel especially around the edges where it should be sealed tight. Quite often a leak in that area causes cold air to enter return air and causes excessive condensation. Another thing to check is look way up inside opening for return air, with a flashlight and see if any dirt/dust on coils and fins of evaporator, and if so, needs to be cleaned off with a vacuum, and brush attachment. Let me know what you find.
