Ge spacemakerxl microwave jvm1650 vent is not drawing air

Vent does not appear to draw (eg steam is not pulling from boiling water) but exhaust fan is blowing plenty of air?????

  • Anonymous Jul 10, 2012

I took out the filters and there is some draw but minimal. Could there be a hole in some internal venting mechanism?

It is possible, you have removed and checked the filters, still the intake is low even without the protective filters. The system will need to be taken apart to find the opstruction, or as you said a hole in the venting mechanism.

SOURCE: JVM1790 Microwave GE-Draws air from bottom and top vents

1. You have to have exhaust pipe to connect m/w vent and this pipe has to be free from obstruction.
2. If it already connected and good, but air come from vent bar over door, then blow motor on top of the m/w was installed in wrong position ( motor has 2 -3 position depends which way air coming out up, back or front).
3. In this case you have to remove m/w from installation and change motor position.

It seems like the control panel is malfunctioning. The censorfor external vent fan may not work due to faulty control panel. You need toreplace the control panel, so that microwave will work properly. Replacing anERC is not a difficult repair and can be accomplished by the average do-it-yourselfoffer. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

GE Spacemaker XL1800 vent fan doesn't pull air from beneath

On the exhaust system (top of unit) there is a small metal 'damper' that is most likely stuck shut. If that is all clear then you have a problem in the duct work of the home.

The vent fan does not draw air from stovetop

There is a wire mesh filter and a carbon filter on the under side of the unit. IF they are plugged then it wont draw air. The other issue is this unit has a dual option for installing the fan. One is to vent to the outside and the other is to vent to the inside, if the fan is not installed for the correct usage, you have no airflow either.

Venting hood not working on microwave mdel# JVM1630BJ03

Start the fan and check the outside vent first.I have found the weatherstrip on the exterior damper can get coated with grease and will become stuck and not allow the damper to open.

Whirlpool microwave oven mh7155xmb0 not venting

Possibly a bird built a nest (swallows) in or on the roof vent. Make sure the fan turns freely when off. Check the vent tube that goes up to the roof--if flex-tubing, it may have collapsed and pinched off the air flow (it may be too long). Make sure that a one-way valve which should be near the exit of the hood is free to move when air flow pushes on it. This valve is supposed to prevent back-flow of air into the house. Hope this helps!

Microwave oven won't work

If the internal fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven or veen on the floor of the oven chassis.

Hopefully the vent fan was on strong enough to keep the steam out the of controls. That steam could scramble or damage the circuit board or keypad.

You should unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, then try again.
