Receivers can lose a backlight for a number of reasons. It could be a failing power source, or it could be a loose connection between the dock and the receiver. I would say that more often than not, it is simply the backlight going out. TSS Radio has a repair guy who can fix this issue in most cases. You just need to send an email to [email protected] Although, with an Xpress, it may not be worth it as you can replace the whole kit and the radio for just $14.99 here: http://www.tss-radio.com/products/xm-xpressez-receiver-and-car-kit

SOURCE: Delphi Roady XT Quit Working

This sounds like the problem I posted about the a/c adapter. The radio doesn't get enough power because the scr in the a/c adapter is failing.

SOURCE: XM radio express blank screen

Take your battery cover off, then take your battery out. Let it sit for 10-15 seconds, then put your battery back in and put the cover back on. It should work fine. Mine did the same thing over a month ago, and it works fine now with no problems again. I CAN SEE!!!! yeah.

SOURCE: When I press the power button the screen flashes

I had exactly the same problem with my Roady XT. The power supply gradually failed, with the symptom that the reception kept getting weaker and more spotty. Finally, the Roady would not turn on. The screen flashed as you describe. I happened to have another 5VDC, 2A power supply in the closet from some other electronic gismo from the past (I save the power supplies just in case). the connector on the old power supply was not correct for the Roady XT, but a little surgery put the new plug on the old supply... (verified by a volt meter). When I plugged it in the Roady quickly turned on and showed full signal strength. This had never happened in 2 years of use. Apparently this radio needs more power than the stock power supply can provide. Now it "loads" stations in 2-3 seconds and never fades.

Back light keeps going on and off.. Can't see the screen 95% of the time. Is this fixable??

Yes. The back light can be repaired, something our repair guy at TSS Radio has done many times. There are also back light controls in the menu, if it is a setting issue as opposed to a faulty back light. In the Display Settings, you will find that you can adjust brightness, back light timer, and auto dimmer.

2006 Cadi cts xm radio selection disappears from radio, then airbag light comes, on traction light comes on, security lock light comes on, them radio goes blank, air stops being cool, theft lock appears on...

You need to take it to the dealer. One of the system computers is failing. I do not know that model but it could be either the body computer or dash computer. Good Luck.

I have XM radio in my chevy malibu. Worked fine

I believe when the antenna loses power it does not show it on the screen sounds like there might be a break in the antenna wire or simply came out of socket in the rear of the radio.

No signal problem on xm home satilite docking staion

You have probably lost a local repeater. Try moving it temporarily to a south-facing window. Here's another one to try: Put in dock and turn off with button on unit. wait 10 seconds, now press "2" "0" "7" "XM" buttons one at a time in that order ON THE FRONT of your SkyFi2 and the radio will go ON by itself! Now, press "Display" 4 times. You will see a screen that says "SAT1", "SAT2" and "TERR". You need a constant checkmark for DEMOD on at least one of the 3 boxes. Please tell me which ones are checkmarked and the average "BER%" number is. The lower the BER% number, the better. If BERis 100%, you are out of luck. Write back and let me know what you read. Press "Display" 5 more times to go back to regular screen. Thanks,
John

XM radio express blank screen

I had the same problem with my Pioneer Inno Gex-Inno2BK XM radio receiver. One evening while leaving work, I gently took it out of the cradle & the screen suddenly went completely blank & all white. I could still hear music but there was no screen visible. Solution is this: (1) Gently remove the back cover which covers the battery. (2) Gently remove the dark blue square battery which is only about 1 inch (width) by 3/4 inch (height) by 1/4 of an inch in thickness. I removed mine by holding the receiver upside down & gently shaking the battery with one hand until the battery came out into my other hand. After about 4 or 5 gently shakes, it came out. (3) Wait about 15 seconds. (4) Place battery back into XM radio receiver being careful to line the copper power receptable on the battery with a corresponding surface inside the receiver. Each copper area is only about 1/10 of an inch by 1/10 of an inch. Use this as a guide when putting the battery back in to make sure it's lined up properly. (5) Gently slide the cover back in place & let it snap into place. (6) Turn receiver back on by pushing power button like normal. (7) XM receiver should boot up with a full display just like new. All recorded songs are still in place. Nothing has been lost. Problem solved. Root cause of problem is probably some type of boot-up issue with the receiver in which the battery (i.e., the power supply) just happened to be slightly ajar...which also persisted even when placing the receiver back in the cradle until the above steps were taken. The steps above worked beautifully for me...Hope it works for you as well! Have A Great Day...Tom Armstrong
