To create a WPS connection: Step 1 Press and hold the WPS button for three seconds. The blue WPS status LED above the button will blink. Step 2 Press the WPS button on your router within 60 seconds. The WPS button is usually on the front or side of your router. On some routers, you may need to log in to the web interface and click on an on-screen button to activate the WPS feature. If you are not sure where the WPS button is on your router, please refer to your router’s User Manual. The DCS-932L will automatically create a secure wireless connection to your router. While connecting, the green LED will flash and your camera will reboot.

to make ur printer go wireless its advisable to keep the WPS in the router disabled and activate the security mode WEP instead of WPA in the router. this will solve all the wireless connectivity issues with the printer.

Hello,
WPS means Wi-fi Protected Setup its a kind of wireless security for the router. There are two methods of activating it either by push button(Which you tried) and other is manual for that you can log into the Router setup page using "Http://192.168.2.1" in the Internet explorer and enter the pin code printed under the router. You should click on "Wi-fi protected setup" towards the left side of the page and leave the password field blank and click submit and enter the code and click on "Start" or Apply changes. The reason why it didnt work through the button is probably because your laptop might not be in range or switched off. It has a utility installed on your laptop which recognizes the connection and let it protect using WPS.
Hope it helps. Please feel free to contact us for further assistance or information.
SOURCE: I have a CISCO Basic Wireless Router. Can this
The router is capable of at least Wireless B (11MB) and possibly Wireless G (54MB) or Wireless N standard speeds. The HP Photosmart will do at least Wireless B speeds (and depending on which model - even possibly the faster "G" or "N" standards, too), so yes; it can be connected wirelessly.
You'll have to set up the the HP Photosmart printer the same way you set up other wireless devices to connect to the router. You'll need to input the SSID, Security Encryption Type (WEP or WPA) and associated security "Key" to match those settings that are in the router.
If you can't remember those settings, or never set up the wireless options, you'll have to access the Cisco Router's built in web set up page. Since you didn't include your particular model number, you'll have to look up this info at Cisco's web site yourself.
If you have trouble, include the model of your router and I'll see what additional info I can get for you.

Doesn't look like your router/modem supports WPS, here is the manual. http://www.2wire.com/pages/pdfs/2701HG_user_guide.pdf

The Linksys WRT160N has WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). If you are using WPA-PSK encryption (recommended), then you can easily connect the C4780 to your wireless network using WPS:
1) On the Linksys router, press the WPS button that is top of the case just under the Cisco label. When the LED on the button starts to blink, then the WPS process has started.
