I can't get the light to come on.

My Vivitar slide projector is nearly new and worked great, and now suddenly no light will come on. We have replaced the bulb, and still no light. This projector does not have a "fan only" switch, so I know it isn't just that we haven't clicked the switch all the way on. The fan turns on, and the small backward-facing light for the auto-focus comes on, but no projector lamp.

Sounds like your black screen shutter is not opening allowing light to pass through. Try it with the carousel and slides installed. Run a few passes.

Where can I find a replacement bulb (24V 150 W Q.I. type Hanimex Type A1/216) for a vivitar slide projector.

Try searching at www.bulbman.com or at a "Batteries plus Bulbs" franchise. Look on the lamp for a 3-letter code. This ANSI code is unique to the lamp and is a great aid in lamp identification.

Vivitar 3000af slide projector. The auto focus does not operate. The focus mechanism light source is on. Does the sensor go bad? Does the mounting warp, causing an alignment/positioning problem? Are...

I can't comment on the projector, but I can tell you that paper-mounted slide will warp, due to the affects of temperature and humidity. Warped mounts will mess up the auto-focus in any projector.
Good Luck !! Jim

I have Hanimex Rondex 120 rotary magazines. I was told these would work in the Vivitar 5000AF. Is this true, as the slide on mine is jamming on the return?

I have a VIVITAR 5000 AF slide projector.

Occasionally, the slide gets stuck while operating the mechanical hand to change the slide. Most of the time it works when I push the slide carrier by hand. Very very infrequently, the projector actually throws out the slide.
I have ascertained that teh Kodak slides which are mounted on paper frames are much too thin for the mechanical hand pushing teh slide in and out. The solution is to remount teh slides on palstic frames or some how add to the thickness of the slide. I have not tried it yet , though.

Any more ideas?

Light won't come on, replaced old light bulb.

First, check to see if the lamp lights at all (spill light coming out of the projector near the fan). If it does, then the problem could be just the "dark shutter" not opening. If the lamp does not light, it could be a couple of things: it could be the lamp thermal fuse has opened or it could be a bad lamp socket.
Sounds like you need to seek out a factory-trained repair dealer for this one, to narrow down the possibilities!
