Does it charge at all? Any damage to it?

all you need to know is if it is a sata or ide connection and decide how big you want the drive to be and then shop around.

If this is a brand new hard drive then you need to install Windows on this hard disk with the ASUS drivers for your model laptop plus your programs to get a working laptop.

I would change the adapter charger, go to www.ebay.com type make and model of laptop, refine search to power supply.

Try putting in your windows disk and using the repair option, your hard drive could be bad or data corrupted, you may have to reinstall windows if you are unable to recover it using the repair console. run CHKDSK /p from the C:\ prompt in the repair console. If you still are unable to access the disk, try reseating the cables on the drive, or using a different power cable. If none of that works, replace the hard drive.

What driver is missing? When you bootup, try hitting the F9 key repeatedly, it should boot into recovery console. Also, try F4 if that does not work. For windows XP, you will need the restore CD. For Vista and 7, you can do a repair of the OS through the recovery console. Will the computer boot? Are you sure that it is a Windows OS driver that is missing?
