My bosch dishwasher will not dry the dishes

The dishes wash very well but when I take them out the glasses, bowls, and utensils still have water on them .I add Jetdry to the dispenser and it has very hot water.

My last dishwasher was a different brand and I had no problem. I'm very disappointed with this one.

Won't dry dishes. For a supposedly top of the line machine, my last dishwasher at half the price did twice the job.

  • ddimmitt Dec 16, 2008

Water is left in the cup bottoms, any dishes that have a dimple bottom or lip. Helps to leave door open for 4 to 5 hours. Dont help to start the DW and go to bed.

This dw to save energy works this way- the final rinse will reach a temp of 161 F . the dishes have to absorb this heat. when the cycle is complete the dishes become a heater in themselves radiating the heat they absorbed during the final 161 F heat. If you have any tupperware or plastic dishes in the unit they will not absorb heat therefore not radiate the 161 f temp need to dry all the dishes. try to avoid plastic items and they must always have jet dry. this is the european way of conserving energy. on the old ge or whirlpool they had electric element in the bottom that would bake the dishes dry ....not these..but they do save alot of energy.. it helps right after a cycle to crack the door open release all the steam from the unit

Almost all Bosch dishwashers operate on condensation dry. Your dishes are never going to be completely dry. This is condusive to energy efficiency. Hot water and rinse aid will help and leaving the door closed longer like overnight will help but as I said it is not likely that all of your dishes will be dry in a Bosch dishwasher..

It's very simple. You HAVE to use the Bosch Jet Dry drops. They are what makes the condensation system on boschs work.

Bosch dishwasher she45m

Just bought a Bosch dishwasher and we were told that they have no heating mechanism to dry the dishes, which is why they are more energy efficient.  You are supposed to leave the door closed for at least one hour after the cycle is complete.  The heat that has built up inside during the wash cycle will dry the dishes.  It is also recommended to always use JetDry. If you follow this advice, the dishes will come out fine.

Dishwasher not drying

Same problem here. I read the manual very carefully. "OptiDry", "ExtraDry", "EcoDry", "condensation drying" -- lots of fancy words to cover the simple fact -- they DO NOT DRY the dishes. There is no heating element. I wish they would just state this up-front. Air drying the dishes for 24 hours after each wash is not workable for most users...

Washing leaves spots

If your dishes or glassware appear filmy or spotted following a complete wash cycle, adjusting the amount or type of detergent you're using and adjusting your hot water heater's water temperature may solve the problem. But before you do either of these, put a rinse additive (such as Jet-Dry) in the rinse dispenser to improve the sheeting action of the water. First you'll have to determine whether the film is removable or permanently etched. To do this, soak a glass in undiluted white vinegar for about 15 minutes. Or, you can wash the glass with warm water and concentrated dishwasher detergent or use a high-phosphate detergent (such as Glass Magic) according to label directions. If film comes off, it is probably caused by hard water minerals, improper amounts of detergent, or unsuitable water temperature. See "Doesn't wash well," above. Permanent etching is often caused by a combination of soft water and excessive heat or detergent. If glassware is permanently etched, there isn't anything you can do to make it clear again. But you can avoid future etching by taking these steps: 1) Be sure hot water entering the dishwasher is no hotter than 140 degrees F. Don't use extra hot settings, such as "Power Scrub" and use "Energy Saver" dry cycle. 2) Adjust detergent amount. 3) Don't pre-rinse your dishes before loading them in the dishwasher. Food particles on the dishes actually help the detergent and drying agents clean better.
