I get the same problem, except when I print I don't hear any mechanical clatter. I get a "printer out of paper" error from windows.

If you have the Canon Pixma MP600, then there is a "Feed Switch" button on the main button-pad, just below and to the right of the "On/Off" button.

The "Feed Switch" button lets you choose between feeding the paper into the somewhat upright feeder in the back of the printer (the one where you can see the paper sticking out of), OR feeding the paper from a hidden tray that pulls out from the very bottom of the front of the printer.

I didn't know about the hidden tray - the plastic is the same color as the main printer body, and is flush with the bottom. It is below the output feed "drawbridge" tray, and you can't see it when the drawbridge is down.

You can pull the bottom feed tray out and put paper in there to feed the printer.

But I like using the rear feeder because then I can see how much paper I have left before running out.

Sounds like either the paper pickup roller is dirty or the paper tray lift spring located inside the paper tray is not lifting the paper when the drawer is inserted into the machine.

Try feeding paper through the manual paper feed area. This is the same place where you would feed envelopes into the printer/copier. If the unit feeds the paper into the unit and completes the printing cycle, sounds like the main drive mechanism is working just fine. If the paper does not feed, then sounds like the drive clutch on the feed motor might be bad and will need to be serviced by an authorized technician.

Another thing you can try is to change the paper you are using. Sometimes if the paper is damp, it will slip when the pickup roller attempts to grab the sheet of paper.

Hope this information helps.

Cheers,

Keith

SOURCE: printer will not feed paper / message E2 ...cannon pixma mp 160

someone replied to my problem, i tried it and its fixed 1st time, for others its taken a few attempts and then worked..
Solution:- Use a piece of thin card, a magazine cover is what i used, make sure its A4 size then try to print something, as the paper starts moving PUSH it through! and hey presto it worked for me, everything printing fine now. hope this helps, let me know how you get on. Garty

My cannon pixma mx360 won't print. The paper gets jammed and it won't print.

Look for a fragment of paper or other foreign object in the paper path. Often feeding a sheet of thin card back through the paper path will push any offending object out. May include insects, paper clips, leaves, rubber bands (the worst), pens and pencils, and of course torn or scrunched paper.

Crease in page when printing cannon image runner 1310

A crease is usually caused by two issues. 1 ) paper is hitting something on the way to the fuser causing a skew. This type of problem would be repeatable every page as well as causing the image to be off centre. The 2) reason is the more likely cause. A bearing on the lower (pressure roller) is beginning to seize. Causing paper not to feed straight through the fuser. This cause a wrinkle from from to back on the sheet of paper. This wrinkle although repeatable generally the wrinkle position up or down on the sheet. This gives the impression of something that is getting in the way of the sheet. If you can change your lower pressure bearings you should be ok again.

How many pages per minute doe it print?

Black Print Speed:--------- 15 ppm***** Total Media Capacity:---- 250 Sheets****** Max Resolution (BW):---- 600 x 600 dpi*********

Being laser-based, the SCX-4100 is a more economical choice over bubble jet printer whose cartridges are expensive in comparison to their durability. But be mindful that the SCX-4100 is a black-and-white device – so no color printing/copying for you, although it obviously scans color documents. The toner cartridge is good for about 3,000 copies, a figure that can increase 40% with toner management software (included).
The device has a main paper tray that holds 250 sheets up to legal size. You can manually feed a sheet at time into a slot right above the front paper tray, and there’s also a rear slot for jam-prone material, like envelopes and transparencies. Unfortunately, the SCX-4100 lacks an automatic document feeder.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Cannon printer feed paper

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Won't feed paper while printing

I just obtained a printer with the same problem. When I opened it up I discovered a plastic gear that had cracked and was not turning the main paper roller as it was slipping. It looks like the solution is to replace the roller if you can find one or to repair the gear and epoxy back onto the roller. I am trying the later.
