Constant print head cleaning on xerox 8550

Constant print head cleaning done by the printer that uses almost 1 Ink Stix of each color every 24 hrs which is the longest time setabel from the control panel. I bought this printer after all of my privies solid ink printers have finely died. I have had the best Ink per page cost of any printer out there but this constant print head cleaning is costing me a min of $55.89 with each print head cleaning that I cannot stop. It is killing me.

Hello, I am the person that Has/Had the problem with my XeroxDP with the Constent Printer Cleaning its own Print Head every 24 Hours on its own without any interjection on my part. I have been having this issue for over 8.5 Months. I got an email from a person in England UK, and he has had this repair problem in the past as he said that it is not very often but not one that is seen with any error codes nor anything eltz other than a slight Black smearing on the Light Strips printout page. All of the lite Strips printouts were complete with no missing nor any particle Strips. You can go through the Delete all repair issues, Media James and all other repair issues and then reset the NVRAM. All of this is done on machines with high page counts. I had tried all of these to no avail many times. As I said that it was only after this Printer repair place in England sent me an email is that the Printer stopped doing this continuous Print Head Cleaning. He did not suggest this as a repair but said straight out "Replace the Print Head!" I asked if it had to be a new or could it be a used one and he said it was up to my purse as to the money that I wanted to spend but it did not matter. I did what he said and I have not had any ink using issues any more for over 2 months now. The Light stripes page is a very clean and crisp print out also. This Person knew more than Xerox themselves because I had called them also in all of this trying to repair this issue also. Thank You for all of your suggestions as to what to do to repair this problem.

SOURCE: clogged print head

What you can try is going onto the Xerox.com site and loading what is call Jet Substitution it will change the ports being used.
That could help.
Load it to your laptop and then run. Sometimes helps.
Unfortunatly that is a very expensive print head.

SOURCE: Xerox 8550 Printer Magenta ink not working.

You need to run the eliminate light stripes. it should be in the menu, under troubleshooting, print quality issues. you can run this up to 3 times. you want the run the basic light stripes, not the advanced. If after 3 times running this, you are still missing jets, your printhead is bad. If you are using aftermarket ink, media sciences might cover the repair, if not, the printhead costs as much as a new machine. about $650+labor.

Xerox Phaser 8550 is printing green and yellow with some gray color on all the print job, even after I replaced the ink loader, the black color came back but still getting only green and yellow. The ink...

Try printing a light stripes test page (Troubleshooting, print quality problems, troubleshooting print quality page).
If you have loads of missing jets, run a couple of head cleans, if you see improvement, it is worth running some more, if not, try switching off overnight and rebooting next day. If it still won't clear, you may have a faulty printhead.
If you do not appear to have many missing jets but the colours are all just wrong it may be that the ink has gone stale. Run a couple of head cleans and you should see the colours start to improve. If it is getting better, all you can do is keep running head cleans until you have replenished all the ink in the printhead well.
Hope this helps.

My Xerox 8550 says 'ink sticks are jammed'. Yet,

This could be a print head problem. If the print head is calling for ink and the sensor is bad the ink melter will continue to melt ink and over flow the print head. In which case the print head need to be replaced.
Also it could be a problem with the ink melter. If it isn't melting the ink it will cause this error.
To get to the ones at the end of the chute I stick a long screwdriver and break it free from the melter.

Won't reconize new ink cartridge rx680 printer

hi friend,
Run the Head Cleaning utility to clear any clogged ink nozzles. To run the Head Cleaning Utility, follow the instructions below.

For Windows users:

1) Make sure that your printer is ON and the error light is off.

2) Access the printer software.

3) Click the Utility tab, then click the Head Cleaning button.

4) Follow the on-screen instructions

5) When the power light stops flashing, click Print nozzle check pattern in the Head Cleaning dialog box to confirm that the head is clean and to reset the cleaning cycle

If you find that any segments are missing from the nozzle check pattern, you may need to repeat the head cleaning and print the pattern again.

Or u could consult the user manual
u should let the ink settle for 12-24 hrs???
hope this helps u
please rate me..........................
thank u for using fixya

Xerox Phaser 8550 having color quality issue

If you are using third party ink sticks contact the manufacture and they will, if you use enough of thier product, send you a new print head and send out a tech to change it. Media Science is the most likely source of third party ink.
You can also switch to Xerox ink sticks and the colors will be correct after several purges to get rid of the old ink.

How to clean the printhead. Copies have a 1 inch strip without print. We have rtried to clean the printer using the white stripe message but it wastes a lot of paper and ink and there are too many to try...

there should be a clean printheads function option on the printer, or take out the ink cartridges and on the bottom place a fairly wet damp cloths on the bottom to get ink flowing again from the ink heads then replace into printer and print a test page, it should now work fine, obviously you havent used your printer for a while and the ink heads have dried up a bit

Error Message

That is a problem with the print head tilt or side to side movement.First remove the right and left covers. Then on look on the left side ( looking at the machine from the front). About mid way back toward the bottom of the frams you will see a stainless steel block, about 1 inch square. See if there is ink in it. Normally you will see some yellow ink buildup in that block. There is a spring on a bracket that you have to slip off to remove and clean the block. If excessivly filled witih ink you may have to use some channel lock pliers to remove it. Soak the block in some pretty warm to hot water to slften the ink and clean the block and shafe off thoroughly. Then clean the print head shaft and remove as much loose ink as possible.
The second most likely problem is that the print head wiper blade has stuck to the print head. You then have to remove the ink loader, ( where you insert the ink sticks. Once that is removed you can access the print head/drum area. The blade is pink in color and if tacked to the print head, remove gently. Then run a couple of cleaning cycles and also the remove light stripes cycle. The blade will mostly stick if the machine it shut off improperly or there is a power failure. The clutch that drives the wipe may be bad, although far less likely.
Those are the 2 most common problems that give that code. I would say those 2 resolve that problem more than 70 percent of the time. But that code means the print head is not moving side to side or front to ack properly.
Hope this helps , it should.

Xerox phaser 8550 get error code 07,010.43:20720

That is a print head tilt or axis failure.
There are 2 problems that cause that 95 percent of the time.
1 is a stainless steel pivot block on the left side frame that gets filled with overflow ink. Needs cleaned.
2. The print head wiper blade is stuck to the print head due to shuting it down improperly or a power failure.

Xerox Phaser 8500 color issue

In all honesty, I suspect the print head has some bad jets on it.
Xerox will not warrany it since there is the presence of non xerox ink in the print head.
When you have tried as much as you have with the maintenance cycles. I would suspect a bad printhead.
When the jets become blocked to the point where you cant get all the colors sprayed onto the drum, you get mismatched colors.
