This can be due poor chuck settings and could be that it is not tightening properly. You can oil or use some degreasing spray to unlock the jam or else the chuck could be defective.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Had the same problem with our Bosch, cap would not even turn!
Suggestions-
pour anticalc/limescale fluid into any gap there is around the cap. Empty the machine and you can switch it off providing the door is open! Then pour the contents of at least 2 sachets of proprietary anticalc powder/liquid into the drum direct together with a kettle full of boiling water. Leave overnight at the very least. The following day run just a spin cycle as then there will be no water diluting the mix. This mix will go through the filter and motor and is likely to help release the filter/cap. If you feel like it, do the overnight again. If nothing else it will ensure that the heater element is clean!
I had to spend a couple of hours gently turning the cap back and forth until it finally released its hold- but the filter did not remain attached to the cap by its rubber ring. More patience, anticalc fluid and all was revealed!
I now run an anticalc clean regularly............which reminds me..............!

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

My makita SDS rotary hammer drill leaves the bit in the hole while drilling. It is like it doesn't hold the bit anymore. What could be the problem and how do I disassemble the Chuck?

if you are using a normal 3 jaw chuck on the drill , that is normal when hammering
the vibrations loosen of the chuck
a method to stop it is to ensure the chuck is tight and keep pulling the drill out of the hole to remove the grit that jams the bit

The Drill came with a phillips/screwdriver bit. I don't know how to insert it. I don't know what drill bits to buy and how to insert them either. My model doesn't have a chuck key or side handle.

Most new cordless drills don't have a key. Put the drill in reverse and hold tight to the chuck barrel, pull trigger and the chuck will open. Opposite to close/tighten Best I can do with info provided

Hello... I've rented a Bosch 11318 Hammer drill and it did not come with a manual......could you please tell me how to insert the bit. thank you.

You should only need to push the bit in. If that does not work grasp the chuck and pull back towards the handle than insert the bit and release the chuck. You remove the bit by doing the same pulling the chuck back and taking the bit out

How do i fasten the the drilling bit in the machine ?

For the pictured drill motor, you put the bit in and use a "chuck key" to tighten the chuck onto the bit...

If the photo is not your machine but you have an SDS type chuck, you insert the bit, pull back on a collar and twist the bit until you feel it engage and release the collar. When seated properly you cannot pull the bit out without pulling back on the collar.

How do you lock the bits in?

Insert sds bit into chuck with slots/slot matching slot in chuck while pulling back on the spring loaded nose. If the bit does not catch try turning/rotating bit to lock. When you release the nose, a pin will drop into the indention on bit and prevent it from falling out during use. Sometimes this pin will break or wear-out thus the bit will not catch. Before you insert the bit, look into chuck for retaining pin. Pulling back on the spring loaded chuck releases pressure on the pin and allows insertion of bit. How do I fit drill in this machine please? DEWALT D25113K D25113 3 MODE SDS

Youcan only use standard drill bits with the use of a chuck attachment with the SDS type bayonet. These hammer drills use an SDS type drill bit which just pushes into the fitted chuck and are released by pulling back on the lock mechanism on the chuck.
