LCD screen image is reversed

Hi, My DSC-T1 is playing up major time. The image is reversed when positioning/taking a shot (something on the right hand side is viewed on the left and vice versa), but when I was able to download it, it was the right way again. Now I can't even download. I fear there is a major problem somewhere and am seriously contemplating a new camera altogether. I have reset the camera this did not rectify the problem. Have rung a Sony repairer, and they said they've never heard of this problem before. Hope someone can help.

G'day and many thanks (from Sydney, Australia). I will try your suggestion and see how I go.

I removed the battery, but the problem still existed. Did smack it on the table and at least I'm able to download the pics again. As I'm in Australia, Texas is that little bit too far away (thanks for the suggestion anyway), I'll take it to my local Sony repairer.

I had the same problem with my Sony Cybershot. The LCD image was reversed. Was about to junk the camera but luckily found this thread and tried the fix by lightly knocking the camera on my desk - it fixed it!

Probably a loose connection as suggested by Joe, the knock fixed it for now.

This can be a software issue associated with a self portrait feature the camera does not have. Remove the battery and allow to set for a minute, this may clear the fault, if not, send to Sony in Laredo, TX, they will flash the firmware for you. Hope this helps. Joe Weibel

    Michelle,

Sorry, I was not paying attention to your location. I contacted Sony tech support and they stated that the ribbon cable that connects the LCD controller can come loose and cause a similar problem, it is connected to the main board in the rear of the camera. Good Luck.

I'm not posting this as a solution but yet a story to share... I had the same problem with my Canon A510. The screen reversed itself and everything was upside down. I don't know how it happened, possibly from small impacts from everyday use, who knows. I got so fed up with it, I smacked it on my computer desk (not too hard). Now it works great!! Seriously... Something must get knocked out of place and caused it to reverse the screen? Not too sure.
