I have searched the net all over and every page I find a FREE scan tool to determine what bios update is needed but they all want a credit card for the download of the right bios flash tool. Gggrrr so aggrivating. Don't buy an MDG notebook....crappy support. I looked on the Compal website and do not recognize any bios updates available.
Not sure if this link will be any good for you but try it,if not just ask google to help you find it... free download for Phoenix bios ver 118B currently update for an MDG...

Please do not update BIOS unnecessarily. Only when you face problems and the error message request for BIOS update only then do so. On asus site enter all the required details & try, but my advice is to leave it alone if its in working condition....sodeep

For branded computers like HP, Compaq, Dell the only place you can get the correct bios updates would be your computer manufacturer website under the support link. These companies do not use industry standard motherboards so it could corrupt your system to update from any other source. Hope this helps.
