Paper "grabber" won't grab

All was working beatifully until the warranty ran out *sigh*. The problem is whatever parts are needed to "grab" the paper and pull it into the printer isn't working. I get a LOAD PAPER message. Load some paper and press OK. The machine goes through the motions and even makes the sound as if it is pulling the paper in, but doesn't. I can't see what is or isn't moving I guess unless I take the thing apart. I am hoping this is a common and simple fix (praying to the technology dieties). Any help/suggestions truly apprieciated.

Sounds very similar to my problem. In my case the Feed Switch ( Button on front console) got changed to load from the front tray, although paper was in back. I hit feed switch and changed to rear tray. Now it loaded and printed.

I've only just found this issue, and assuming it has not yet been resolved here is my recommendation: Remove the paper cassette and *carefully* slide the printer forward. Reach inside and you should find the paper pickup rollers. If it's making the sounds that it's trying to pick the paper up, the feed rollers may simply be dirty; clean them with a lint-free cloth damped with an all-purpose cleaner (alcohol will work, but over time will dry out the rubber). They are most likely half-moon shaped so you will have to reach above them to clean them -- some models will allow you to rotate them *carefully*. Wipe dry and reload paper. Let me know if it worked!

Hp Officejet 6500 won't feed paper

Problem:
The 'drop down paper grabber' gears are not turning, and the printer gives you an error saying to make sure there is paper in the printer.
All of the fixes on the internet are for working printers, and their approach is to clean the rollers if they are not grabbing the paper. They are assuming they are turning properly and the rubber grabbing wheels are wither dirty of dried out.
In my case, however, the gears were not turning, and so the rubber grabbers wheels were not turning, even though the whole 'paper grabber' unit was dropping down properly
Solution:
Just inside the paper loader tray, along the top, there is a metal rod. It is about 1 inch from the front.
The gears from the drop down paper grabber are supposed to meet a gear that resides on this rod and sort of floats on it. However, the gear on my printer slipped to the left, and was not making contact with the other gears.
You can gently put your finger on the gears as you do a copy command, and confirm this.
To fix the printer, I just slid the floating gear over to the right and into place, and the paper began feeding properly.
Why there is nothing to keep the gear in place is a mystery to me.

My printer X3350 has trouble grabbing the paper from the paper tray. What can is the problem. I tried cleaning the grabber wheel. But it still won't grab the paper.

Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Hi I have an epson stylus D88 Plus and the paper grabber is not grabbing my paper? Any ideas? There is no paper jam Ruth

if it's regullar paper try a thicker one and see if it's working. If it does, that indicates the rubber rolleris probably too used.

Printer does not "grab" paper but can see parts turning

you have bad rollers. you can try to clean the roller with an alchohol wipe but I doubt it will help much. You need to have the roller replaced or get a new printer

Not feed paper

it may be that the paper is too slick for the grabber to access...try a little heavier bond paper(not the same as copier paper, which is SLICK.

HP Photosmart 3310 does not recognize paper in tray

This is usually do to a sensor, your correct on that, thers usually a plastic piece that indicates theres paper and its broken or worn.

The other thing is that it may be the little rubber grabber is worn and not grabbing the paper, so the printer thinks thers no paper because nothings going through. These parts can be orderd but are usually costly depending on the printer. If its under warranty, take it back.

Also, check the trey and make sure it isnt a I.D.10.T error and you just set the paper to legal or something. I've made that mistake before.

Help please

You could try using Media Portal as your 'TV grabber' you can check it out at http://www.team-mediaportal.com/. You're most likely not going to get the MSI software to work properly on Vista until they release a compatible version. If you still want to use that software you'll have to switch back to XP. MSI doesn't have a lot of motivation to upgrade their software to Vista compatibility because most of their users are still on XP.
