Oki Microline dot matrix was printing fine, then had power outage. Now it's doing a form feed after each error (it prints the errors generated when data is sent to the hospital information system) It used to print continuously. Now it does a form feed after each error, wasting a lot of paper. I don't see any settings for the printer that have to do with form feed and the data being sent has not changed
Am afraid the Power Surge (when the power came back on) has damaged the unit and there is no "Reset" to these printers. You would need to replace the control board but as its a power surge there is a reasonable chance that the power supply will have been damaged/weakened and this will lead to a shortened life span of the printer. I would throw it away and replace with new. sorry, ( I am not a salesman either)

This sounds like a problem in the computer program that is sending the prints to the printers....especially since it is happening in several of them.

We swapped out the printer for another one we had in the office that was working. The new printer also got the alarm light. From that we concluded that it was a bad serial card. We swapped the serial card from another printer, and the original printer started working perfectly. Now we just need to find out where we can purchase another serial card, as we have no more 'spares' around here.
First, reinstall the driver and be sure it's the correct driver for this printer. If you drive a word document does it do the same? If not, chanses are the db application is constantly sending form feeds to the printer and the printer will do whatever it's told to do. Try a different printer setup in the db application.

Hello,
To change the settings, make sure you have a good ribbon installed.
Press the MODE button. The SEL light will go out. Menu light will come on.
Press the GROUP button until the printer prints something like:
Serial Interface Parity None
To change the Parity, press SET. A new line will print as:
Serial Interface Parity Odd
Press SET until the Item is the one you want.
Then Press the ITEM button. It will then print:
Serial Interface Serial Data 7 or 8 bits 8
Again if you want to change it, press SET. Otherwise go to the next Item.
Continue using the ITEM button to choose the item you want to review or change and the SET button to change the selection.
When you have made all the changes verify by going through all of the items with the ITEM button. When you are satisfied, Press the MODE button to save all of the changes. (The Menu light will go out.)
If you have any trouble Comment back.
Thanks for using Fixya.
