I have a shap lcd computer monitor and when i plug it into my computer and turn the power on, the little green power light comes on, screens back. and after 5-10 seconds the light turns orange and blinks then the screen goes darker black like its not even on. everythings plugged in the right way, not sure if theres a sequence of buttons u need to push?

The fault is a back-light problem and the fault could be a faulty inverter board or a faulty CCFL lamp.

We need a little more information. After you turn it off, is the computer off, also? If you turn on the monitor (does it have a yellow or green light), and then turn on the computer, do you see anything on the monitor.
Is the monitor plugged into the wall and is the power cord tightly plugged into the back of the monitor (sometimes comes loose).
If the monitor will not turn on at all after you've checked the above things, then it has gone bad on you.
If you get a light on it and you have turned on the computer but there is no display, it is very possibly the video card.
Of course, this all assumes that the computer is actually starting up.

i had the same problem now my monitor wont even turn on if i do that the power light just keeps blinking maybe its a sign of a dying monitor

blank_page Use a reset sequence on the monitor-
1. turn off monitor
2. unplug power
3. plug power back in, holding down the last button on the left, then push the power button to turn back on and off three times, holding on the third try until it comes on- hold for ten seconds and release; the monitor should work again

It is probably either a CCFL back light issue inside the LCD or a set of capacitors on the inverter/power supply board.
Would you be willing to part with it ?

Looks like one of your backlights is bad, first indication is the red or pink tint, replacement of the lamp is fairly easy. If one lamp is bad the inverter will not work. You can get a replacement lamp from Mouser electronics for about $12

Thanks for your response. I actually sent my monitor out to guy that does LCD repairs for cheap. He changed out the video board and did repairs similar to yours but still couldn't get the monitor to work. After some more testing, he found that one of the chips that contained Sony's proprietary firmware had gone bad and said there really was no way to replace the chip. It definitely seems like we had the same problem, so I thought this information may help. I'm sorry that you paid so much for repairs that didn't solve the problem.
