The plastic housing of your set could have popped from tempature. If the set is still working, you should be fine. . . although keep your nose in working order, just in case.

SOURCE: My DLP TV made a loud popping sound then went off

first. unplug the set for 5 minutes and see if it will reboot. if it does not the you have 2 problems, the chassis is also bad. next open the lamp door cover, it is behind the speaker grill, and behind the lamp door.
take out the lamp and see if it has broken on the inside if it has it needs to be replaced. mits will send you one i believe it is about 100.00 the number is 915P020010. if the lamp looks ok then the color wheel has probably fallen apart.if this is the case the light engine need to be repaired. check out www.tv-techs.com

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-73732 TV

It could be a bad lamp but I've run into many of these TVs with bad color wheel assemblies. Also, if you are getting a dialog box coming up with these words," airflow blocked, TV will shutdown ..." that's a defective thermal fuse.

This is a job for a mitsubishi authorized service center. A tech can disassemble the light engine and confirm that the wheel is the problem. If you're still in warranty, great. If you're only recently out of warranty, call mitsubishi for assistance. Remember that persistance pays off when dealing with large corporations. You very seldom get what you're looking for on the first call or from the first person you speak to.

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WD-62525 BLUE SCREEN NO PICTURE NO SOUND

I had the same problem and I found that it was 2 caps on the power supply board. I had both caps replaced and it worked perfect. While it is apart see if any other caps are bad( if they are puffed up in the center they are bad).

I get sound but no picture then the tv shuts off after 5min. It is a Mitsubishi wd-73837

Popping noises are not a good sign; I suspect the sound came from the catastrophic death of an electrolytic capacitor or worse, the death a a power semiconductor.
Open the lower cabinet and using a good light, look for a smaller, separate board with fairly large parts on it; some cylindrical in shape, others block-like that may have copper wire showing.
If, as common, this board is plugged with connectors into other parts of the system, you may be able to swap the failed board out for a replacement bought from a Mitsubishi service center.Expect to pay $100-$150 US if the set is no longer under warranty.

Loud pop then no picture

Hi
The power supply regulator board inside your TV is fauty. The 'pop' sound you heard will be due to capacitor breakege. In the power supply board, there are large filter capacitors, to smooh the rectifed AC voltage. If there is any rise in AC voltage, above the normal voltage capacity of the fulter capcitors, it will burst ofr, or get leaked with a 'pop' sound. You have to open your tV to view this. Look at the power regulator board, which can be easly located, as power chord goes direltly to it after a filter circuit. It will have three or more large bulky capacitors, and these are the main filter capacitors. Repairing this board must be done with care, as this is a dangerous board to touch because most of the components in this board will be live and touch it will be fatal. In most cases it will be best to replace the board as a card basis. OK

Mitsubishi wd-57734 heard loud pop screen has gone blank, makes odd noise, sound works fine. what could be wrong?

It sounds to me you have a Lamp that has exploded,
That Lamp and housing will cost around $300.00 or so. I am pretty sure that will fix it. Most of the Lamps are located on the back of the unit and is accessible through a door. Once removed, you should be able to get the proper part number off the Lamp Housing and call Mitsubishi to order the proper one. Their Parts Department Phone Line is 1800-553-7278.
I hope this helps,
