Using cable camera to computer image disappears when computer is switched on message" camera error 40"
Does the camera have internal storage or does it require a memory card? I don't see any specifications for internal storage. If you are using a memory card then try taking the card out and inserting into the appropriate memory card slot on the computer. </br>
It seems that the camera uses standard USB to connect to the computer, however, the documentation implies that you need to install the accompanying software from the cd to view and transfer your pictures and movies using this method.

Having same issue as above - I thought it was my cable so I ordered a new one. The camera attempts to 'speak' to the pc - and then the Windows box pops up not recognising the USB installed device....I also uninstalled and reloaded the Canon software (had camera for 18 months and only started this rubbish a month back) - was about to re-laod my entire PC - thankfully I saw it was not only me.
Will send mine in for a Firmware update / service.

Note: When the camera is connected to a computer using the USB cable with a
memory\picture card in the memory\picture card slot, the computer will
only see the contents of the memory\picture card.
Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any additional help.
