A while back, the red 'alarm' light lit along with 3 and 7 temeprature buttons both flashing together. This flashing was also accompanied by a rather annoying 'beep'. Looking in the manual, it recommends I contact Whirlpool and arrange a service engineer, although it does also say the temperature will remain ok. Whilst not ideal, I lived with it for a month or so, but this annoying beep, drove me up the wall. So, I decided to act on this and set about removing the beeper from the circuit board. Removal of the panel from the inside of the fridge was easy and I soon had the beeper off and silecnced forever !!!!!! Since silencing of the beeper, the fridge now seems to be very cold even though the temperature is set to 7 degrees. And the flashing error code remains. . . . Any ideas as to what I can do to fix this thing ? How can removal of a beeper cause the temperture to drop ?
Cheers
Your appliance is short of refrigerant
Same thing happen to mine. Tried the defrost method but did not work. Called out a service engineer who replaced the thermostat worked for about one year then same thing again. Still beeping so gave up with this fridge. Looking at a different fridge to replace this one.
I have had similar problems with the electronic control module. Replacing the whole module would cost about £160. I have repaired mine by bypassing the electronic controls. The fridge compressor is controlled by a 12 volt relay on the circuit board. I have wired the relay to an extenal frost thermostat (Sunvic TLX9401, £12.50 from toolstation.com) and it now works OK.

Same problem. Defrosted fridge, switched off for an hour, removed cooler box, tried everything in the book.
