The e2 code on a carrier comfort zone thermostat is indicitive of the external safety sensors which are located on your units ductwork in the attic. the e2 code are the hpt/ and lat sensor codes. the hpt is the heat pump temperature sensor and the lat is the leaving air temperature sensor. you can pull off the cover of the panel and behind it will actually give you all the fault codes associated with you carrier tsat.each sensor has a certain ohm rating and if its out of the range it will fail. now as to the reasons for failure, the indoor coil could be dirty, filters dirty, refrigerant charge incorrect.

I have a Bryant heating/cooling w/ heat pump - E3 error on thermostat and the house is 61 degrees and smells of burnt air

I asked Mr. Google " carrier e3 error code", and I found this.

The outdoor thermostat is in error, not connected, or shorted out. This code is displayed only if auxiliary heat and/or cool lockout feature is enabled.

What this means is that your o.d. unit has a component failure. The smeel you have inside is probably you electric heat elements that are energized. And if they haven't been energized in a while, its burning off some debris.

Ductless split

Not familiar with this particular unit, but whenever the breaker trips it indicates a problem with the compressor motor. Check it for a short or ground.

The thermostat is flashing and E2 error code...what does that mean

It means the trailer is too warm for the thermostat to work - above 90 degrees inside. Take some ice and put in ziplock bag - place over thermostat and cool it down. Unit will start working when thermostat senses it is BELOW 90 degrees. FAULTY DESIGN.

Carrier thermostat reading stuck on 50 but doesn't work

If it is Carrier tstat. Some have resets other dont. Kill power to insid unit. WAit five minutes turn back on. If it has batteries take them out. But the storm may have damaged the tstat. I had a thunderstorm damage 11 tstats in one building. You can buy a tsta at Home depot that will work and they are easy to wire. Just make sure you get the coorect tstat. If the unit is straight cool electric thats the easy one. A heat pump you need a Tsta with two stage heat one stage cool. You can pick one up for about 25 to 30 dollars. Please call back for more help be glad to assist.Rusty
