Check the door switches with digital meter, usually find one bad one. Set meter to ohms and test, some will be normally open and others closed, check with the door open and closed.

SOURCE: Mircowave works, exhaust door opens, fan stop working

From looking at the owner's manual, it looks like the vent fan is only supposed to come on when the internal temperature of the microwave gets too high OR when you press the VENT FAN pad. Here are a couple of fan-related excerpts from the owner's manual, which can be found here: http://products.geappliances.com/ProdContent/Dispatcher?REQUEST=SKUOBJECTS&DOCUMENT=Use%20and%20Care%20Manual&SKU=JVM1840BD (or the better URL here: http://tinyurl.com/yn7r6g) Automatic Fan An automatic fan feature protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on if it senses too much heat. If you have turned the fan on, you may find that you cannot turn it off. The fan will automatically turn off when the internal parts are cool. It may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. - Vent Fan The vent fan removes steam and other vapors from surface cooking. Press VENT FAN once for high fan speed, twice for medium fan speed, a third time for low faw speed, or a fourth time to turn the fan off. Press the VENT FAN BOOST pad for extra fan speed. - Hope this helps.

SOURCE: GE Advantium 120 Microwave fan stays on, off only when door open

Looking at the schematic in the service manual here, I would say relay RY6 on the small sub PCB (relay board) has shorted contacts.

That's the relay that runs both the fan and turntable.

It's possible that it may be a bad connection or driving component on that board, but in my experience, it's virtually always a stuck relay.

The part number on the relay as shown in the photo is hard to read, but it looks like "OJ-SH-112LM".

I should have one of these or I can point you to one if you want to contact me with the exact number.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: touch pad doesn't work

ut the tech sheet did mention that intermittent F7 problems are usually caused by poor connections. So I pulled the ribbon connector off the control board and cleaned the copper connectors using a pink pencil eraser. That whupped that puppy! But then I went out on another service call, same oven, different house. The pink pencil eraser trick didn't work on this one so I had to apply some of that famous Samurai gray matter. To identify the problem on this one, I cut power to the range and disconnected the ribbon connector that connected the touch pad to the electronic range control (ERC) board. Then I re-applied power and let it sit that way for 24 hours after which the customer was instructed to call me and report on the error code status of the oven. If no error code was reported, I knew the touch pad was the problem. If, on the other hand, the F7 error code came back, then I knew the (ERC) was the culprit. In this case, the error code did not come back during the test period and, using my keen, Vulcan-like powers of deduction, concluded that the touch pad was defective. I replaced the touch pad and problem solved!

SOURCE: GE microwave Model JVM1650SH01 innternal fan runs continuously

Check the door switches-I think you will find one or more either bad or not being contacted with the door latch.

GE profile microwave internal fan continues to run when door is closed . When door is opened it shuts off . This is not the exhaust fan . Overall the microwave still works fine ??

It is a cooling fan used for cooling of magnatron as the temperature of magnatron rises when microwave mode is used, cooling saves this component from any defect.

I have a JVM1850 White microwave-over the oven-installed 3 years ago. Last evening the unit would not turn off. The inside light and fan continued to run, however, the microwave was not working.

All the controls and functions seem to operate, but when completed, the unit remained working, as stated above, with the door opened or closed.

Sharp Carousel R-530CW

Hi, I am not sure of the cost concerning the control board, however, it does sound like a control board problem, or a door switch problem, I would need to see the specific unit diagram to know for sure, but many microwaves, not all, but many, have a door switch related to that part of the circuit, usually the fuse would blow at that point, but there again, it depends on the circuit. I would suggest you get the unit checked soon however. Hope that helps somewhat, and thank you.

Fan runs when door is closed

This is an interlock issue or a faulty temperature sensor. Both will require the outer casing to be removed for inspection. Basic tests can be done with a continuity tester or cheap digital multimeter with resistance checking facilty (Radioshack)

The sensors for these types of fans are normally attached to the roof of the cooking cavity, little silver components with two or more wires.

Check these out with a meter if any are open circuit then they need to be replaced.
