Question about Onkyo TX-SR606 Receiver

ONKYO TX-SR606 Single output to TV

I have the ONKYO TX-SR606 and have connected my Cable tot he reciever via compisite input and DVD player to the reciever via Component Input.

i have connected a single output to the TV via Component Out.

I am not getting any picture from the Cable to TV. Any Help

    I have an Onkyo TX-SR606 hooked to Dish Receiver on one side and a Mitsubishi Diamond 65736 HDTV on the other. I currently have Dish receiver connected via HDMI cable to the Cable/Sat input on the back of the 606. I have the TV connected with an HDMI cable from the OUT to one of the 3 Mitusubishi's HDMI cable input jacks. I get great sound, but am unable to get a picture. therefore, I hooked the video cable straight from the Dish 722 Receiver to the TV. It works, but since it isn't coming from the 606 I can't see any of the setup screens.

    How can I get video from the 606 to TV. What am I missing.
    I had it working great and bought a new TV/equipment stand so had to unhook when I reconnected the situation above is what I found. Yes! I marked the connections with tape, but I've missed something.

Hi there. for your receiver, the only time it can upconvert is when you go out as HDMI. In your current hookup (component out to tv) the signal from your cable (using a composite) will not be able to pass through the component cable. This means you either have to hook up your cable box using a component cable as well or add a composite cable (yellow) from monitor out of the receiver to the tv. Page 22 of the manual will show a diagram of the video signal flow. hope this helps.. ^_^

Mine did the same thing where the screen would go black for a few seconds and then the picture and sound came back. I would try (1) switch HDMI cables, (2) try a different HDMI input in the back of the receiver, (3) try different input in the back of the TV. None of these seemed to work with mine. I finally ended up running the cable box direct to the TV and only run the audio through the reciever via coax or digital. No more problems. I think the HDMI inputs in the back of the reciever have a problem continuously carrying the signal if it is the leaset bit weak.

Have you proven that a straight shot HDMI to the TV from either source solves the problem?

For all we know the TV or it's HDMI cable could be faulty.

I cannot get video signal from my Samsung p1590 Blu Ray player via HDMI to pass through my Onkyo TX-SR606 AV Receiver. I get video if I connect Blu Ray player directly to TV, and have tried all HDMI ports...

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, you’ll need to assign the digital inputs as
necessary using the setup menus on the TX-SR606’s display.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1
DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver to the COAXIAL 2
DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary to assign the digital input.
The onscreen setup menus appear only on a TV that is
connected to the HDMI OUT. If your TV is connected to the composite video or S-Video MONITOR OUT, or the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, use the TX-SR606’s display when changing settings.

Onkyo SR606 video upconversion problem.
Pressed and held cable/sat button on front of unit until "Attenuate" came up. Changed setting from 0 to 2

No audio from pc connected using hdmi
Are you not getting audio to the television speakers and the onkyo reciever speakers when connected HDMI thru the reciever or just the television. If it is just thru the television then it is because the reciever is grabbing the HDMI audio signal and converting it so it does not reach the TV. If it is both then try changing the HDMI signal output from PCM to DOLBY DIGITAL on the computer. Your reciever may not be able to process the PCM signal of the computer. Does the reciever show a PCM or DOBLY DIGITAL display when HDMI is hooked up to it?

Onkyo tx-sr606 turns off during loud dvd sounds.
It sounds like you have a defective unit. I would contact the manufacturer and ask to RMA it.

you have the output of the receiver going to the input of the TV?

i believe that you should be running the TV output to the receiver input to get your sound from the TV to the receiver and thus speakers.

the easiest setup is to just run your cable box and DVD player HDMI's into your TV inputs. then run another HDMI from the TV output to the receiver input.

Onkyo TX-SR606 getting no sound from HDMI sources on speakers. I have a motorola cable box and a panasonic DMP BD-35K blueray player both attached to the SR606 via HDMI cables (HDMI3 and 1 respectively)...
Not sure if this is your fix, but I had what I thought was the same problem. I played with my Onkyo quite a bit ensuring the correct assignments for HDMI, audio and all that stuff. Turns out I neglected to make sure the output devices were properly assigned. Many devices aren't default to output sound over HDMI. I changed the audio out settings on the cable box to HDMI and suddenly the Onkyo worked great. I know, I'm an idiot for not checking that in the first place, but maybe someone out there is having the same trouble as well.

I have a Sony BlueRay DVD player passing through an Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver. I'm using the TV speakers for sound right now. Cable works fine in this mode as I have the TV sound option turned on. No sound...
alot of times , you need to go into the bluray menue under audio, and make sure audio output is set to hdmi, and not componant

Onkyo tx-sr606 can not get it to work w tv using hdmi cables
try using a HDMI cable connecting the receiver from the "out" to the tv, then allocate through the setup menu what you have connected, say a cable box by hdmi, you would go to cable/sat allocate the port "hdmi1 or coax 1" then return. If it is a dvd click on dvd then allocate eg: "hdmi 2" then return.
