I have a sony kv-27S45 triniron tv. the timer delay light keeps flashing and it won't turn on. I've tried unplugging it and waiting for 60sec and holding down the timer button while pressing the power button....nothing. HELP!
Thanks
Please update this with the blink count. That will indicate the circuit in which a problem was found. Once I have that information I should be able to give you the probable cause and remedy.
Dan
The 4 blinks usually indicate the loss of vertical deflection. If you can solder and are comfortable wrking inside the set (realize that there are potentially dangerous high voltages present even when unplugged), you can fix this yourself.
Look for a small flat IC attached to a heatsink that is marked TDA8172. That is the vertical IC. Try resoldering the pins first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the IC.
Let me know the results as there may be other components in the circuit that need to be changed as well. If that is the case, the symptoms should change.
Keep me posted,
Dan

We have the exact same issue. Did the soldering help with this??
Thanks,

No Picture no sound. Stand By Timer Light blinks 5 times on and off, then repeats. Sony Model #KV27TS27.
We also have a Sony Trinitron 27 inch model number KV-27S45. T.V. comes on, but the picture just flickers, sound is okay. The Standby/Timer light is flashing 4 times and then the T.V. shuts itself off. We also tried to unplug it and waited, plugged it back in and it does the same thing. Help! We aren't comfortable with working on the "guts" of the T.V. and we really love this set!
Confused and Sad!
same model (KV-27S45), same exact problem, 4 red blinks.
