There are two key points I suggest customers can do themselves to help lengthen the life of their machine. One is your hook and the other is the needle bar...
Hook - Open your bobbin door, removee the bobbin case/bobbin. On the upper left corner there is a small latch, push in the latch and your shuttle race ring will fall down forward. You can now remove your stainless steel hook. You need to keep this hook clean and the lip it fits back into clean and void of lint and debris. On the back of this hook or the "lip" that the hook fits back into apply a small amount of hook/sewing machine oil.
Needle Bar - Open up your head cover, the needle and needle bar clamp is attached to a long stainless steel rod that travels vertically inside your head. All sewing machines have a needle bar that looks like this. This bar travels thru two brackets attached to the frame of the machine. Rotate your handwheel and clean the needle bar well of debris. Rotate the handwheel so that the needlebar is in it's highest point and apply a small amount of oil to the upper and lower bracket of the frame, rotate the handwheel so the needlebar slides back down and therefore lubricating it and the inside of the brackets.
Hook oil or sewing machine oil is relatively inexpensive from all quilt, sewing machine, repair shops. Be sure to take your machine in a minimum of every three years for proper cleaning and lubricating of all the other parts (This is of course for average home sewing machine use 8hours a week)

I need help changing the light bulb on my Bernita 801 sewing machine. I am unable to remove the old bulb. Thank you,

Do you mean the Bernina 801 Sport? If this is the correct machine, to remove the bulb, you need to push up on the bulb and then rotate counter-clockwise. Then pull down on the bulb. This bulb is large enough that you shouldn't need a special tool to push the bulb up into the socket. When you put the bulb into the machine, push up and then turn clockwise until you reach the stop.

The manual for the 801 Sport is available here: https://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Out-of-Print-Manuals/BERNINA-manuals/BERNINA-Sewing-Systems . The current link to the manual is https://www.bernina.com/getdoc/8fdb6352-a532-4575-9854-b96eaa0a2b75/BERNINA_801_manual . You'll need to extract the zip file and look at page 40 (page 19 of the PDF) of the second part of the manual.

I hope this helps.

My Bernina 801 is stuck in the tack stitch. How do I get the regular stitch back??

Hm, am wondering if it is seizing. How long since it has had a thorough clean and oil? Seizing happens when the old oil dries and begins to stick the machine parts.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

I have a bernina 801 sewing machine. I am unable to dis engage the wheel to reload the bobbin, it will not turn

Have you ever lubricated it? Sewing machines must be periodically cleaned and lubricated or they will get stuck and freeze up

Need a wiring diagram for a bernina sport 801

You will probably find the information that you need here: BERNINA Startseite Herzogenbuchsee Info BERNINA Service Tipps Lenco...

There's a great deal of information about the mechanical Berninas but the site is in German. It will be worth your perseverance though.

Bernina 801 squeaking squelling noise

Needs oiling and cleaning. Use good quality sewing machine oil, NOT 3-in-1, WD-40, or cooking oil.

If handwheel is difficult to turn manually, it most likely needs cleaning and oiling.

Bernina 801,feed dog knob will not turn.

Most likely needs a good cleaning and oiling. The old oil has dried out and become gummy, causing the moving metal parts to stick.

I have bernina sport 801 machine and need to know

You can oil any two metal parts that move togeather or through each other. Do not oil bearings and do not oil gears. Do not use 3 in 1 oil or WD-40. Use regular sewing machine oil.
801's were made from 1979 - 1982. The way Bernina dated these on the machine is by the serial number. Your number would probably start with a 0 or a 1. 1970 is a 0, 1971 is 01, 1980 is 1, 1981 is 11, 1990 is 2, 1991 is 21 etc. etc.
