Won't start cycles, latch lite blinks then after about 5 minutes shuts unit off, is this a latch problem or what?
Your door lock assembly has gone bad. You'll need to get your model # and go to either www.apdepot.com or www.repairclinic.com or your local parts supply to pick up. To start the repair you'll need to lift the top up by taking the two metal clips, one on each side, and then pulling the top forward. Once that is done lift top and you'll be able to locate the lock located in the front. Once you find the lock follow the wires back and you'll see that they go back and then upwards. Set the top back down and then remove the back of the control panel, which are 1/4 screws I believe. Located the wires from the lid lock switch and see where they connect on the control board , from behind, it shoould be on your left side close to you. Disconnect the wires and now you can remove the lock safely. Install new lock and put the machine back together;

The Maytag man was out today and ruled out everything but the main board, he is ordering a replacement board but it won't be here for 7 to 15 days in the mean time he is bringing me a loaner because the part is not available locally. I sure hope it fixes it as I too suspect it was the switch, but technician said the board was causing the timer to malfunction, i.e. when on the rinse & spin cycle the timer would count down to 4 then back up to 13 and so on, strange that it never gave any error codes. Will keep you posted.

Hi First
make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the
bottom of the unit, after this test the lid switch assembly, you jump it to
test it. If the lid switch is also fine then the control board should be
replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance. Daniel

Lets try this first!
Unplug the washer for 5 minutes and then replug and try it to see if this reboots the system like when a computer acts up, we do the same thing for most electronic devices!
If for some reason this is not helpfull, open the user guide and see what the tell you is the meaning of a code"f" on your specific machine!
How old is the washer?
I'm here all night if you want to write me back!

It's probably because you have a unbalanced load. I bet you are hearing the washer banging around. Take a few items out as the most common cause is you filled the washer with too much clothing.

This isnt really a solution because Im having the same problem. The repair man that came said that is buildup of soap in the water line. I use my own powder soap, not h/e, and its not desolving and getting built up in the lines. Im not sure what to do to get it to stop doing this. He suggested cutting back on the amount of soap and running hot water through the lines which I have done for the last couple of days but I still have this problem.

Turned machine off for 10 minutes to reset unit came on and started into a normal cycle, at end of cycle clothes were still wet. Machine has never shown any error codes. Thinking this may be a faulty lid switch, or perhaps the inner tub is corroded or gummed up and not floating properly, if I understand correctly if the tub is not free to float the sensors will not function properly and the machine won't go through complete cycles. Otherwise it may be a motherboard, but if it were the motherboard I don't understand why no codes are displayed. Will find out this afternoon when repair man comes. This unit was purchased Mar 2011 so it is extremely disgusting that it should fail this early in its life cycle.
