The scooter will go but when throttle is released it keeps going and won't slow down?

The throttle seems to be stuck internally...you can let go of it but the scooter continues to go...

I had this problem too. U need to twist on it and jam it until it turns off. Twist it back/forward. U can also pull in brake. The brake automaticaly deactivates motor. Hold brake until STOPPED then let go. The scooter will stay

My scooter won't start when it does it won't go in reverse whenever your going straight it won't slow down and stop you have to coast till it stops Judy Carter.

Judy,
You have a dangerous situation there, The throttle does not sound like it is attached very well to your lever. When you release the lever and the scooter keeps going! This is not safe. The throttle must be in the center of the throttle pots range. Most throttle pots are 5000 ohms. So the center is 2500 ohms or in neutral. The the throttle lever must be checked for cracks in the middle, which release the pressure of the setscrew on the pot shaft. also the return spring may be broken, which would cause a similar situation. Please check these things or get a tech on this before using this scooter again, for your safety and others safety. Scooter Doctor App

Invacare meteor, keeps slowing down, then speeds up again, can you help.

usual cause of this is the throttle (wig-wag ) controll potentiometer has worn out.to test put the scooter against a wall and get a freind to lift up the rear of the scooter and put 2 large blocks of wood underneath it so the back wheels can rotate
carefully advance the throttle 1/2 way then with wheels turning.keep in same position and gently move the throttle lever up and down .if there is a lot of play and the speed varies drasticaly then pot replacement reqd .you can get a dealer to order the correct one or get one off the internett but when fittinf if thr pot is not set to exact center with multimeter scooter will not move and produce off center error code

At 30 mph, release accelerator and keeps cruising

The o-ring is the most probable cause of your problem. any thing that is not standard in the airflow or fuel flow will change the engine performance.

Engine runs full throttle and won't throttle down

Try grabbing the governor arm coming out of the side of the engine where the throttle linkage comes from, can you manually slow the engine down with that? Is it stuck?

Hi i have a shoprider of witch is still running but one min it will go full speed then it can die as if it not getting the full power and slow right down and then for no resson will take off again or if it...

hi Dave, it could be a number of things,

1. Firstly the throttle pot ,When the scooter starts to slow down , gently push the wigwag (throttle lever ) in the upwards or downwards direction to see whether it corrects the slowing down, if it does keep it there, if it seems to fix the problem you need a new throttle pot.

2. What 's happening to the battery power meter ? is it fading or moving ? Weak batteries or a dodgy charger

3. Motor brushes not inserted fully or worn

4. Controller issue (Rare )

My Scooter slows waaaay down to almost stop, then goes, then slows, then goes. Speed dial d/n seem to make any difference? Does this even with batteries changed out to new?

Sounds like a throttle pot fault (the part that the throttle lever is attached to). This would need testing at a dealer or with a volt meter (set to ohm's) and if found to be faulty, will need replacing. If you test it yourself, there is usually a number on the top of the pot, usually 5k or 20k and this is what you need to set your meter too. Place the probes from the volt meter, black onto the centre wire and red onto either of the other wires (there should be 3) and slowly press the throttle lever first forward, then reverse, and constantly keep an eye on the reading from the volt meter. The reading should go up to approx. the number on the top of the pot, i.e. a 5k pot should read about 4.9 to 5.1 ish on the meter. If this number fluctuates up or down quite rapidly while the lever is held in a static position, it will indicate a faulty pot. This is in fact a common fault with nearly all makes and models of scooter and usually a fairly cheap and quick repair.
