A blocked drain tube was the cause of the pump not working issue with this dehumidifier. I removed the back cover (5 screws on back, 1 screw on each side) and cleaned out the accumulated gunk in the small, clear reservoir on the back right. It took a little time using compressed air and pipe cleaners, but the effort ultimately worked.

SOURCE: I want to change my deLonghi Dehumidifier from

You may have a older model that has a collector tank with a protruding tube on it. If so just cut the end off the tube and slide on a piece of clear 9.5mm internal diameter PVC / Rubber tubing suitable for a fish tank air / water pump and secure it with a nylon tie wrap.

Continuous external draining for newer models with clear collection tanks.
If the appliance is to be operated for long periods of time but you are unable to empty the tank, you are recommended to use the continuous drain facility.
• Drill the inside of the drain spout using a small drill bit. This is located behind the rear grlle in the lower centre of the opening.
• Fasten the rubber hose to the spout. For models without drain hoses supplied, we suggest you purchase a rubber hose around 2m long, with an internal diameter of 9.5 mm.
• Make sure that the hose is not higher than the spout, otherwise water will remain in the tank; also check that the hose is not twisted. N.B: Keep the rubber bung. You will need it to plug the hose or close the spout if you revert to draining into the tank

Testimonial: "Very helpfyl I think. I will se when I get home where the drilling needs to occur."

SOURCE: i have Delonghi DE500P dehumidifier was running

Hi,

First, make sure the humidistat isn't set too high by adjusting it to the lowest humidity setting and running it again. Next, test the dehumidifier by placing it in a closed bathroom with a hot shower running. If you don't see water collecting in the unit after several minutes, turn the unit off and clean all dehumidifier filters and coils. If, after adjusting the settings and cleaning the unit, you still don't see water collecting, you may have a refrigeration issue. This situation will have to be addressed by a qualified technician.

Good luck

DeLonghi DD70PE Dehumidifier. Why does pump often stop working and F/P shows an error code until reset?

id be inclined to think that for some reason the pump is taking too long to pump tank out (or it thinks it is ) this would cause the fault you describe and the safety control shuts pump off for fear of a problem

Why does my dehumidifier pump water on to floor

Pump is defective. Is your pump light going on and off???If it is it means the pump is defective.I fiddled around with mine for a day and finally realized the pump is the culprit. So i stopped using the pump, which you can switch off on the panel...where it says pump. Finally I just drilled a hole into the continuously draining hole at the tank and put a tube into it and the problem got solved

My delonghi dehumidifier will not cool the house just keeps blowing warm air and dosnt feel to cool were thinking about giving up on it

Dehumidifiers aren't supposed to cool your house. If anything they generate heat. How it works is, it has cooling coils that it draws air across, which causes the moisture to condense, and be captured. However the heat extracted from the air has to go somewhere, so it just blows out the other side. If you want cool, buy an air conditioner.

What diameter tubing is used with the Delonghi DE 500P pump

George, regular garden hose is what is generally used for continual drainage. Just don't exceed the maximum length of hose, that is listed in your Owners Manual. And, despite what they say about being able to pump water up thru abasement window, it really doesn't work that well. Unless the unit is right below the window,

Bought a Delonghi dd50pc dehumifier last week for my basement and I have the hose going uphill and out a window but the pump always shuts off after 3-4 minutes, filling the tank instead. Now when I lay...

You really answered your own question. The pump in the dehumidifier only has so much water lift capacity. By trying to run it up and out, you have exceeded the maximum lift capacity. Using a floor drain or even a bathtub drain in the basement will probably work, as long as the hose is not to long.*
However, if you can use a floor drain, there's no need to use the pump function. You can use the continuous drain on the back of the unit. using the drain hose provided for that application.

*The 13 ft lift capacity noted in the Owner's Manual includes whatever length of hose you're using to get to the window. As there is some friction loss involved. But, they fail to point that out.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I am trying to get information on the maximum lift of the water pump. How high above the unit can it pump the water?

Unfortunately, there is no pump on that dehumidifier. If you're using a hose for continual drainage, it shouldn't be more than 5' long. As it relies entirely on gravity to drain. As a matter of fact, to the best of my knowledge, there is no residential portable dehumidifier on the market that has a pump. They all rely on gravity.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know.
