SOURCE: will not shut off
Sounds like a stuck relay on the unit itself. Maybe there is a short in the control wire that comes from the thermostat that activates the fan.
The thermostat probably has one hot wire at all times. The thermostat then chooses which wire to send the voltage down based on your selection. One of those wires is probably for the fan only. Make sure that it is in good condition (no bare, pinched or wires)
SOURCE: RV air conditioner. Compressor running, fan stops before cool
The fan motor is getting hot and going off on the internal overload in the motor.
This is caused by either a low voltage, a bad capacitor, or tight or dry bearings in the motor.
To check the bearings turn the power off to the unit, then spin the fan blade if it spins freely then the bearings are ok.
To check the capacitor you will need some kind of tester or you can buy a capacitor and replace it, that's what a lot of people do. They usually don't cost very much.
To check the voltage you will need a voltmeter and measure the volts at the unit.
SOURCE: AC compressor will not engage
It could be the capacitor, it could be a loose wire connection, it could be a delay switch or a contactor/relay.
Testimonial: "You gave us a couple extra ideas than what we already thought of checking. Thank you. We will trade out parts from working one, see what it is. Thanks"
SOURCE: shut off automatically, and I run it in fan only mode
Remove filter cover and see if front coils /fins are frosting up. Let me know
