Hi,
I can't make my Sony DCR HC30E PAL record, I get a black screen as if the cover is closed (but it's not).
The cam used to work proparly, but it just stoped !?
Thanks,
Haggai
Haggai,
There's a problem on the CCD Imager Processor,it is located inside, exactly behind the lens,if you're not qualified tech.not try to open it,bring it to SSC (sony service center)

It seems bad ccd imager problem in Sony DCR-HC30E camcorder and ccd imager will be replaced. Sony will replaced ccd imager free of cost as per announced scheme. Click Sony CCD Imager Support UK for details.
Hi, Check if it has the firewire port. If so, you can get a 4 pin firewire cable and connect to the PC and record/ download the videos using Windows Movie Maker.
4 pin firewire would look like this: http://www.pcab.co.uk/ebay/firewire%204%20to%204.jpg
You can use the Movie maker to burn it to the Disk
i think you are in picture mode when the screen mode is changed then it will appear black and recording cannot be done beeing in that mode you have to change the screen mode into recording mode and then continue
There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks
