How do i align 50H72 without remote - Toshiba 50H72 50" Rear Projection Television

Get one--see them on EBAY etc as for convergence and other things no universal will work properly.

1 Press MENU, then press S or T until the SET UP menu appears.
2 Press up/down arrow button on remote until "TV/CABLE" is highlighted.
3 Press to highlight either "TV" or "CABLE", whichever you use.

Look around the area of the STKs and you should see some low valued resistors. One lead of which will be attached to the STKs. One or more of these is open. Replace it/them and you should be fine. These are current limiting resistors (effectively fuses) for the power to the STKs. One of them is not getting power.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. You have bad conv. ic's.On these sets when the ic's go bad it will usually pop a fuse or burn up a few safety resistors,causing ith video to go away.
