Static/White Noise After selecting Progressive Scan option accidentally, I pressed the stop button on my remote for 5 seconds to reset. However, this time there are no speaker test options in the setup menu as well as there is static or white noise if anything other than the DVD function is selected. If I want to play any games or listen to the TV through the speakers nothing but static. Please help! Thanks

I am very thankful for the solution attempt on my problem. However, the problem still remains. When I scroll down to the speaker set option - there is no speaker set option. It is blank as if the programmers forgot to put it in there, but we know it was in there before. I don't know what else to do because DVD's work but the DTS does not. Does this mean the chip burnt out? If so what is an economical solution for this. Thanks again!

How to turn off the progresive scan

This is frustrating but what worked for me:
1. first make sure you are on CD/DVD mode
2. select the 'Setup Menu' button so that the words 'Setup' appear 3. press the 'CH/TRK Stop' button (it is blue on my remote) and hold it down (approx 5 seconds) - if it works, the setup menu will be displayed.

If this does work - write the instructions on a small index card and glue it to the DVD player ;>P

Sound, but no picture

If you have a progressive scan button on the remote, it might change it back. Try all the video related buttons on the remote with the DVD player on.

Player was put on progressive scan and has stop displaying any video

You might want to reset to factory defaults, but there is an error in the manual. In order to reset to factory defaults, turn on (with no disc inside), DO NOT OPEN THE DISC TRAY, just press the stop button on the player for 5 seconds.

Progressive Scan Mode

Check for video out in the dvd setup menu, and set it for composite,
It may be set for component.

another thing to try is setting the the progressive scan option off in the setup menu, you wont benefit from it, but at least it might work.
if you already tried using the prog scan and your T.V isnt compatible, you'll need to reset. press stop to stop any playing disc, and press stop again holding it for 5 seconds to reset the system.

good luck!

SD-K530SU - Turning Off Progressive Scan Mode

Once the setting for Progressive Scan output is entered,
an image will only be visible on a Progressive Scan compatible
TV or monitor. If you set Progressive Scan to On in
error, you must reset the unit. Pointing the remote at the
player, press the STOP (x) button to stop any disc that is
playing. Next, press the STOP (x) button again and hold it
for five seconds before releasing it. The video output will
be restored to the standard setting, and a picture will once
again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

Stuck in progressive scan mode

You need to be sure to remove the discs from the disc changer and close the disc changer. Make sure that your TV is on the Blue Screen and it should say " Progressive Scan Mode" Press and hold the stop button on the unit....not the remote for 5 seconds or more and it should reset. However, if your TV is a Progressive Scan compatible TV, you may need to refer to the user guide for the TV as well....Many newer TVs Use a Progressive Scan Setup, but this solution should still work for you. Make sure all discs are removed FIRST!!!
