I have a x5495 printer and after installing software and I try to print, I get message that no communication between printer and computer. I have checked all of the recommendations and still can get to print. I have a toshiba lap top computer.

The message "no communication between printer and computer". some times indicates that the cable you're using is faulty or the port selected is not the printer port you've connected your printer to.cheers.

My lexmark 5300 all in one gives me a "web gateway encountered a problem..." message and the printer's functions will not work.

Does your printer print when you try to make a copy using the Copy button on the printer operator panel? If yes, then it could be a printer driver problem. Try to re-install the printer driver on your computer. You can download the Lexmark X5495 driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/gKXn7F. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. After the installation is successful, try to print again.

When I try to scan or print a message comes up telling me to ck power and usb connections. I have unplugged and restarted computer 4 times and still have problem

It could be a communications error message, the printer is not communicating with the computer.

  • Disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Disconnect and then reconnect the printer power cable.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Remove and reinstall the printer software

  • If your printer does not function properly or communication error messages appear when using your printer, you can remove and reinstall the printer software.
    1. Click Start®Programs or All Programs®Dell Printers®Dell Photo AIO Printer 962®Uninstall Dell Photo AIO Printer 962.

    2. Follow the instructions on the computer screen to remove the printer software.

    3. Restart your computer before installing the software again.

    4. Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD, and then follow the instructions on the computer screen to install the software.

    If the installation screen does not appear:

      1. In Windows XP, click Start®My Computer.

    In Windows 2000, double-click My Computer from your desktop.

      1. Double-click the CD-ROM drive icon. If necessary, double-click setup.exe.

      2. When the printer software installation screen appears, click Install or Install Now.

      3. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.

    If you can scan the USB port, it should be OK. If "copy" works correctly and you have recently installed drivers, try resetting your computer and selecting the printer as "default." Check if there is an impediment on the printer panel, blank cartridges or another error. The printer can scan but can not print if it has empty cartridges.     My Lexmark x5495 will not print. I get the message enable bidirectional communication. I am running XP operating system. What is the solution?

    Go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes > right click on the Lexmark 5400 Series print object > Properties > Lexmark 5400 Series Properties window pops up, click on Ports tab > place a check mark in Enable bidirectional support by clicking in the box beside it. Hit Apply and click Ok to save the settings. Try to print. If problem persists, disconnect the printer usb cable from computer, uninstall the software completely by clicking on Windows logo Start menu > All Programs > Lexmark 5400 Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart pc. To reinstalI, I recommend you use the software you can download from the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/cgn74X. Download and install the software.     Computer and printer no longer communicating

    unfortunately I had the same problem and despite extensive troubleshooting and patching system from lexmark.com I eventually just uninstalled and completely reinstalled the software with the cd. took all of 3min and problem fixed!!

    Lexmark 5410 will not communicate with my mac or pc laptops

    Hi there,
    • Unplug the printer cable from the computer.
    • Unistall the printer drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the printer appications
    • restart the computer
    • try to download drivers from the website
    • after installing the cannon drivers and software it will ask you to connect the printer. 
    • then you can connect the printer and print a test page.

    Lexmark Printer Install - No Communication Error

    With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

    To fix a fouled install:
    (1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
    (2) Shutdown the computer
    (3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
    (4) Restart the computer
    (5) Run the Driver Installation software
    (6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
    (7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

    Lexmark Printer Install - No Communication Error

    is the printer in its own USB port? Some printers that "talk back" to the PC do not like to share a port so do not have it on a USB HUB.
