I have a new printer i have everything connected i have a usb connection. im having problems with installing it to the pc my driver acts like it wont read the cd im trying to hook to a dell pc and this printer is a hp photosmart c8180 all in one is there anything i can do

If it is a new one it usually come with a driver, when you insert the driver it will load and you follow the instruction, when it get to a stage it will require you to connect your printer but if you didn't follow the instruction it won't work(connect through the USB mouth into the system

During the setup, the printer has to be unplugged from the computer. also make sure when the printer is plugged in that it appears in device manager(right clikc my computer ,select manage, left side select device manager, right side find unknown device or printer which disapears when unplugged)

also make sure that its connected directly to your pc

If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
Install the driver on your PC.
Important Notice -
Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.
go to Lexmark website using this link: http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/support.cgi enter your product number (X4270) and you will find your driver for Vista. Good luck.

Friend if your new printer wont operate because an old software was installed already,thats why it says it was already connected and everytime you install the cd it will counterfieit the new software. so to solve this problem you remove first the old version of printer driver installed in your pc.go to control panel and and remove progrms then you remove the old driver there then reboot your pc. after rebooting install now your new printer driver together with your new printer. thats all hope i helped you.good luck

Reinstall with upgrades. Five of the software packages were updated this month. Think they knew that their was a problem?

Wat is the operating system of your laptop?
if vista try to check the driver cd of your printer if they can support vista o.s

You have to be careful with USB device drivers. Check the insructions. I'll wager you need to install the driver THEN plug in the device while everything is running.
