Pull cord pulls hard won't start

The rewind tension spring may be broken or fully extended. Try to yank hard on the cord and pull toward you with some force. Pull until the line will no longer come out and if it won\'t recoil then it needs to be repaired.

It appears that the recoil spring has broken and you will have to pull it apart to replace it

Remove the impeller and check for loose motor mount screws. With the impeller off and the spark plug removed and the pull start functioning properly; if it still wont pull then its likely internal and due to be replaced.

should never pull cord unless correct amount of oil is in it !, My advise take back to sears and buy a Toro ! Did you have the blade break lever pulled back ?

There is a spring there you don't need to buy one use the old one.. If you need one go online give them model number have in two days.... Good luck..

remove the starter assembly and then you can see whats going on like a knot in the rope or something

your spring may be broke or might just have to rewind it they could be a pain somtimes

Just perform some checks please,

• try to pull the hood release lever with its cable tightly pulled towards you.
• that may tighten the loose cable so a release can happen
• then pull out the hood piece hard, so the lock would release.
• trimming is not a good idea, because it would be hard to set it back into the assembly.

The mower's drive shaft may need to be lubricated. If you turn the mower over and try to move the blade by hand (with the mower off, of course) does it move, or is it hard to move? If it's hard to move or it won't move at all, lubricate the shaft by squirting some WD-40, 3-In-1, or other lubricating oil onto the drive shaft where it meets the chassis of the mower. Squirt enough oil to cover the circumference of the drive shaft, then try to spin the blade again. It should at least spin a little bit now. Squirt some more oil and spin the blade again, until the blade spins easily. Then turn the mower back over and try to pull the start cord -- it should pull normally now.
