Yes, most smaller window units have both outdoor and indoor cages connected to a single motor in the middle of the 2 blower wheels and are completely seperate from the compressor and it associated parts

SOURCE: Squirrel cage installation.

If there is strong air flow blowing into the house the sq. cage should be OK. Possibly you need to replace the pads and make sure that the pump is not clogged and is distributing enough water to keep the pads wet.

Are squirrels cute and friendly or are they just a NYC rat with a bushy tail?

They can be very friendly if raised from babies. They need to be caged at night or they will cause you grief.

Why does my ac freeze up

Hello, air conditioners will freeze either due to low airflow.....such as dirty filter, dirty evaporator coil, weak or not running blower motor. Also, a low refrigerant charge can cause the unit to freeze up.

Ac squirrel cage fan motor noise

Could be bearings going out, or a squirrel cage rubbing the blower housing, a squirrel cage blade that came loose, or a capacitor.

I have a GE Model #GSS20IEPJWW. It started having a high pitch sqealing noise when running. Now the noise has stopped, but now the top of the freezer and the frig side is warm.

the squirrel cage fan motor is squealing, can be lubricated with a graphite or some sort, lubricating with any type of oil might cause a dirt build up on the shaft causing later problems

I want to clean the squirl cage fan on my Carrier handler. It's 12 years old and never really been cleaned. What is the best cleaning procedure to maximize its efficiency.

The best way to really clean the squirrel cage is to remove the entire indoor blower motor housing assembly out of the furnace then remove the squirrel cage from the motor shaft and pressure wash the squirrel cage. Make sure you don't use to much water pressure as you might knock off any balancing weights that may be attached to the one or more of the vanes. Make sure the cage is completely dry before you re-install it back on the motor shaft.

If the blower is made of plastic it does not have a set screw. You most likely need a new squirrel cage. They are formed to the shaft and have a compression ring that holds them in place.
