Front wheel alignment

I hit a tree with the front right wheel, now my right tire is out of whack, I need to know how to straighten wheel back out?

kevin plumag, you may have bent the tie rod. It's an easy fix: each end of the tie rod connects to the axle, keeping the wheels at the right distance. Each end of the tie rod has a small cotter pin. Remove the cotter pin (a washer will fall off), lift out the bent tie rod, and put a new one back in, reinstalling the washer and cotter pin on each end.If your tie rod is straight, something else is wrong (which is why I'm searching the boards!). You can order a tie rod from Sears; check your manual for the part number.

SOURCE: Deck may be bent?

On your problem it is diffiuct to say. I don't know how old it is and if it has been run hard in gravel or how many roots you hit. However if the blades hit it hard enough you may have hit the deck brackets. You need to get it no concrte so you can mesure the for corners of the deck on the level surface, then check which side and if it's front or back that is higher. Most likely the lowering arm Is what is bent where the lever you Drop the deck down with is, look tthere first. Also look at the top of the deck and side to side at the lawen mower and see if you can see if the deck is up higher on one spot more than anywhere else. . I know this is confuseing but hope you understand what I am saying. I would also check the front axle mesure the top o the axle on both sides are they even? Yes? then mesure from ground to top of the hood on the lawnmower. Good luck.

Steering wheel tilted

This is a common problem. The last time the aligned it the may have bumped the steering wheel and when they aligned it and tightened everything back up it was off center. The next time you get it aligned make them aware and they'll straighten it up for ya.

My 1999 mercedes ml 320 was hit very hard while backed into a parking stall, body damage was repaired but it still has other damages, it has a lift kit and it now starts veering too much to the right

I think the rear axle is out of alignment a simple thrust angle alignment should cure the problem . provided the wheels and tires are not out of round and the front angle alignment is correct another possibility is radial tire pull and may not be related at all if you swap the front tires and the pull switches side you know you have a slipped cord inside the tire and they cannot be seen usually but will drive an alignment tech batty

On my 05 reg mitsubishi l200 the steering wheel does not sit straight and almost have to hold the steering left to go straight its not bad but is there anything i can do?

Get an allignment. Some kind of way it is out of whack and its not the safest situation. Take it in to an allignment specialist and they can straighten the wheel. Good Luck

Handlebar adjustment....

A lot of guys will just find a firm surface (tree, pole) and beat the wheel against it to straighten the front wheel. Some will kick the wheel to straighten the front end. I would not suggest either method unless you are in the middle of a race.

The best way is to loosen the top triple clamp bolts (that grip the fork tubes) and then grip the tire with your knees (standing in front of the bike) and twist the bars, then re-tighten the top clamp bolts once you are happy with the alignment. It will move quite easily. Check the tighness of the steering stem nut after you are done.

Car pulls right, terrible grinding noise from front right.

TAKE IT BACK WHERE THEY DONE THE LAST LOT OF WORK and tell them to do the complete job again as it sounds like a con job to me as a wheel aligment should last for a year a least and the grinding is in the braking system and something must still be bent ,
Its still under warranty dont pay any more..

04 Nissan Quest Shaking while driving

Put on the spare tire and see if that helps. If it does, go to the tire store and use your hazard coverage for them to check your rim for being bent or your tire from having a bruised belt. The rim is your responsibility, the tire is the tire stores. An 04 should have spare rims in Salvage yards. You can go online for those if need be.

My lifted 4x4 struck the base of a tree with only the right front tire,driving it up and back.the right wheel apears to be slightly turned out,and the frame crossmember is bent and or cracked.the right 36...

The cross member must be replaced. The frame is probably not bent, unless you were going 50 mph or so. It could be straightened in any event. Not knowing the make & model also makes this a tough question to accurately answer.

Front tire is pointing to the right

You need to assess to what level is the fork bent,if the metal on the chrome of fork is twisted then you need a new one else you will have to remove the forks completely,remove the tyre and get one of the fork tube out and go to machine shop they can use a hydrolic press to straighten it.And there you go!!Forks is back on..Please note you have to align the forks by twisting the steering..

The one thing you never mentioned was if you had your Jeep SUV Front-end Aligned after you had the new tires installed?

I'm guessing/hoping you did???

Where did you have the work done at? Be specific here!

Was it a 2-wheel or 4-wheel alignment if that applies here? Big difference it was done RIGHT or if it was done WRONG? That's just maybe part of the problem though if it was indeed MIS-ALIGNED. When you say PULLING - that is a BIG CLUE right there of a possible MIS-ALIGNMENT!!

Not sure what size tires you had on it originally or which size new tires you had put on, but if the new tires were over-sized then you are rubbing on the mainframe or possibly rubbing the front fender wells??

This has happened before, as sometimes they don't pull the right size tires from stock, and then don't double check them before mounting them.

Esp when you are running bigger rims and lower profile tires, which might be your case, as you didn't say anything to the contrary.

If we're talking about STOCK tires for STOCK tires here then your driver side door decal will state the factory installed tires as to their proper size. Any modification to that as to bigger rims and lower profile tires has to be done to factory recommended specs. Lets hope so anyway!

If I were you I would be double checking everything, as to what was actually done, and as to what tires, etc were put on your SUV.

The clue to your problem lies right there to start with! After all nothing was mentioned about any "pulling" before you had the new tires put on.

Here's one last big clue as to if you actually got a "bad alignment" on your Jeep SUV.

Have someone else drive behind you on an empty straight flat street (or else have someone else drive your Jeep and you follow behind about 4 to 5 car lengths back). If your Jeep's body is trying to track crooked (as if on an angle diagonal to straight ahead) as the tires are trying to track straight ahead - then you definitely just got a bummer mis-alignment!

I'm putting my money this is the case, as I've seen it so many times it's not funny.

It called a "shade tree alignment" and for good reason.
