If you put new toner in your used cartridge and you still have the Toner light, you need to reset the "reset gears". Take the cover off of the gear side of the cartridge. The reset gears are actually attached to the inside of the cover. Move the gear with the lever to the opposite side of the current position.

Actually, I succeed BUT only after leaving the front case opened

1)Open the front case (generates error message & red light), turn off machine.
2)Leave the front case opened, then hold down main blue/button "Contact" while switching on power button (facing machine, on rear right)--
3)Release it when all the three LEDs (Toner, Drum, Error) are lit.
4)Press 2 times
5)Press 7 times

Note that at each time you press (4th and 5th), the button-contact lights up.

Black tape on right side of CARTRIDGE worked for me too. Thanks for the tip!! This saved me money and a last minute trip to Micro Center.I agree with MCline, "I can SEE when I need a new toner cartridge; I don't need the printer telling me when it's time to change AND REFUSING TO PRINT UNTIL I DO." Shame on you Brother!!I think my next printers will be HP. I like the ability to disable toner monitoring.I am thinking of placing black tape on the cartridges of all my other Brother laser printers to manually disable toner monitoring. There is nothing wrong with applying this fix long term. However if you want to know more about this visit this website https://www.microtonersupplies.com.au/toner/brother-toner-catridges

I called Brother tech support. There is a sequence of pushes on the start button with the cover open that will reset the toner count. There is some internal count in the printer. When a new Brother toner cartridge is installed that count should be reset. Brother is attempting to enforce "Brother only" cartridge use by doing this. (Talk about "Big Brother"). I am hesitant to give the button sequence. I don't want to be responsible for any damage to anyones computer. So call Brother tech support (1-877-BROTHER), stay on hold for about 2 days, and then they will walk you through the button push sequence to reset the toner count in the printer. Just make sure that you have a genuine Brother toner cartridge in front of you. They will want the bar code number off the toner cartridge.

Have you replaced the toner cartridge?
If the Toner LED is on:
Check to see if the drum unit assembly is installed correctly. If not, take the drum unit out of the machine and put it back in.

If the drum unit assembly is correctly installed, and still the Toner LED is on, the toner cartridge is empty. Replace the toner cartridge with a new one.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Replace new toner and displeyd mesages "chesk waste toner box". i remove waste toner box and cleaned waste toner in drum unit. no result...

the top of the waste toner container must be cleaned 100% from the toner because it should be a light sensor that has to pass through it , if its spoiled with toner the light cannot pass through it ,so i recommend you to empty the waste toner container first and wash it with water and drying it well before using it again.

Replaced toner and maintenance kit -keep getting yellow lights on exclamation and toner

If the toner and the exclamation lights are blinking yellow after replacing the toner and maintenance kit, then you will need to reset the photoconductor counter. But if the exclamation and the toner lights are steady on yellow, then that means there is something wrong with the toner.
