Laptop screen not centered

Replaced laptop screen. New screen same exact size as old. Put in case in exact same position. Now the screen image is a tad lower and a lot less wide than old one. Tried changing resolutions and then can't see bottom screen. Is there a way to center the image or to adjust just the vertical or just the horizontal one at a time? Windows 7 Home Premium

Did you replace it with an identical part? Should work fine if you did. I would contact Toshiba tech services for guidance on this matter. Have you tried it with an external monitor?

SOURCE: Convergence lines are SLANTED. Red line is above

Your TV most likely a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

0667c5f.pngSOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

SOURCE: how do you adjust screen size in HMDI mode screen

That is one big problem with the Vizio, They do not have this option. You may have better luck trying to adjust it through your cable box if you have one. They do offer an option on some of there remotes that says "wide" this will magnify the picture to full screen in most cases, it has been the only solution I have been able to find, besides the setup on the cable box. I hope this helps, Good luck.

SOURCE: I have vertical lines (15 of them now) on my Toshiba laptop.

I'm afraid when you see vertical line on an lcd panel, it most likely is screen failure. Ebay has plenty of screen from good companies in Texas. I get most of my screens from Ebay store LCDTECH99. They have the best prices, most screens are under 100 bucks and they ship right away. The Toshiba screen is an easy repair, Only the bezel needs to be removed in most cases. Below is a guide to show the process.

I bought a computer with 15.4 Wide XGA display. It has not arrived yet. I want to put photos in. I believe the wide XGA will distort the photos. Can I make the view normal?

The size of the screen and its shape has no importance if you use a decent imaging program like IrfanView - in it the image will be resized to fit the screen and if the shape doesn't matches the screen will have black bands to compensate.
The only time a distortion will be encountered is when you will try to use it as a desktop background in the Stretch format - just select Center and all will be fixed. Of course the best solution is to crop and resize the picture to fit the screen exactly - you can do that with Irfan.

Colored bars across laptop screen

You should try to connect your laptop to external display and use the same resolution as on your laptop internal screen. If the picture is good, there are 2 possible solutions:
1. The wire connecting the screen and your laptops motherboard could be lose. Use screwdriver to disassemble the laptop so you can see both ends of that connector and make sure that they are on place. In some laptops it is enough just to take off the keyboard and you can see the other end of the cable. Try to push that one to place before dissassembling more.
2. If that doesn't help, I would try to change the entire screen. While doing this you should remember that you laptop doesn't necessarily need the original spare part, you might find one for free from one of your friends old broken laptops, as I did, it doesn't even have to be same make and model. (Mine was packard-bell laptop, and I took the replacement screen from my friends old HP, the most important thing is that it is the exact same size).
If the picture is the same when connected to external display (this is wery unlikely in this case), your display card is broken, in some laptops you can replace it, but in most cases you cant. To help you furter, I would need to know your laptops make and model.

1. Are car battery posts different sizes? 2. Does tire wear(uneven)affect 4wd to 2wd transfer?

battery posts are different sizes. The positive one is larger.
Extreme wear of two front tires and new ones on the rear (or any combination similar) may or may not affect how your transfer case engages but it will put unwanted stress on the transfer case and driveline which will eventually wear or break something (more worn tires need to turn faster than less worn ones) If you have quadra trac, it will burn out the viscous coupler in the transfer case. On 4x4 vehicles it is always best to replace all four tires at the same time and rotate them to avoid any becoming more worn than the others. Tires must also be the exact same size.

Screen blanks out on certain positions on laptop

This sounds like you have a short in the LCD ribbon cable and it will need replacing, in most cases you will have to replace the screen but if you can find the exact ribbon cable, replacing should do the trick.

How to put a new screen on a acer laptop

You need to remove the front top cover above the keyboard to get to the screws that hold the screen on the laptop, then you may have to remove the keyboard to get to the display cables and possibly disconnect the wireless antenna wires from the bottom of the laptop.

Then unscrew all the screws that hold the screen in place. around 4-6 screws. The screen should be free to move and you can pull it up from the case.

if you have a new panel you will need to open up the old screen cover, unscrew the screws, and use a flat screwdriver or a case opener tool to snap open the cover as its hold closed with plastic clips.

if you have a completely new display you can just slide it in the old ones place, connect the cables and screw the screws back.

if the connector is different do not force the connector, buy the exact same model screen as your old one is, if you bought the wrong display and the connectors don't fit, forceing them in the connectors may ruin the connectors.

For how much cost do i get a new lcd screen for laptop

depends on laptop and size, probably pick a new one up on ebay for $100-$175 if you like ebay. they aren't all that expensive as long as you are looking in the right places. Toshiba will likely charge 2 -3x as much. You just havve to be willing to take out the old one and put in the new one. Good Luck

No Backlight on an ACER 4620

I don't have an exact answer, but some thoughts & ideas.

It really does sound like an inverter. Is the screen the EXACT model as the other one you replaced, and is the inverter the EXACT one. One that is similar may not work.

The faint image is either a bad bulb or inverter. If that screen has never powered up and lit up, you might have a screen with a bad bulb.

I would leave the blame to the motherboard last. Your symptoms seem more like the inverter or bulb in my experiences.

Shows half screen only!

if you can't expand your screen size from the pulldown menu or vertically or horizontally center the picture one or two of the centering coils could be partially burned out. the monitor uses electromagnets around the crt neck to center the picture. varying the center controls apply or take away voltage from the coils to center the image. may be time for a new monitor

Mutiple screens after startup

From your description it sounds like you've got an image set as your desktop background and it set to "tile" mode. If this is the case you can change it as follows: -Click on Start, settings, control panel -Double left click on Display. -Click on the Desktop tab -If you want to remove the background image just highlight None from the list of backgrounds. If you just want to display one, small image click on pull down arrow to the left of the Position field (bottom right hand section) and select Center. Use Stretch to make the picture fill the entire field. If this solves your issue please don't forget to rate the posting, otherwise give us some additional details as to the exact nature of your issue.
