Re: Camcorder Communication Error from Battery to Camera
Not 100% sure but when my gz-hd3u had the same problem I cleaned as well as pushed in all the battery connect pins on the camera. one of the middle pins detects if the battery is installed.

Per SONY; To service the C:31 code, Sony recommends you do the following:
Turn off the camcorder.
Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
Turn on the camcorder.
If the error message appears, service may be required.
solution 1:
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.
solution 2:
Turn off the camcorder.
Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
Turn on the camcorder.
If the error message appears, service may be required.
If your camcorder still shows the same error code, then you'll have to send in your camcorder for service
additional info that might help:
According to the manual, the error code C:31:xx:xx means an error that
>the owner can fix by himself has occured and that by taking out the
>cassette and replacing it or by disconnecting the battery pack and
>fixing it back should solve the problem.
Error "23" means: "S reel emergency during normal rotation",
i.e. the problem is with the tape deck mechanism and specifically
the supply reel.
I'm betting you bought an aftermarket battery and not an original JVC battery. The error message you are getting is caused by the camcorder not being able to read the charge sensor in the battery. Some of the aftermarket batteries neglect to put that sensor in the battery, or have a sensor which does not match the OEM sensor in a factory battery. Try an original JVC battery. Is this solution answered your question bu sure to rate it. Thanks!
I bought a replacement data battery BN-VF-808U from Digicowfish through Amazon.com. (?made by PomerPower). It fits nciely to my JVC Everio GZ-MG330 which uses a BN-VF808U data battery. However, JVC gives a screen message:Communicating Error. Now I have solved my Communication Error by using a jumper cable provided with the replacement battery BN-VF808U to connect the attached replacement battery to the camcorder. There is a DC input socket on the camcorder. There is also a DC input socket on the replacement battery for direct connection.
Just found a workaround for the "cheap battery" problem. The problem is that there is some circuitry in the more expensive JVC batteries that the generics don't have. When this isn't detected by the camcorder, it won't function. It's a neat trick to make you buy the proprietary battery. Also suspecting that with the JVC battery, if the circuitry gets fried for some reason, the battery will no longer work.
Well, the generic battery I have has a plug in the back of it so you can charge it with the JVC factory supplied charger. There was also a jumper cord supplied with the camcorder. Plug this in the back of your cheap battery, plug the other end into your DC port on your camera, and voila! You're in business. Downsides are that you have a short cord between the battery and camcorder and the battery indicator won't work so you'll need a spare.
