Tomtom stuttering My tomtom GO 720 has started to stutter when it reads out the street names. please explain why this occurs and how to fix it thanks

    The voice on my Tomtom GO 720 is muffled. Some street names are unclear. This happened since i installed an update on the device.

    It appears to be a problem in the new update. It seems that we need to bug tomtom to fix the problem as soon as possible because it is annoying.

    Tom Tom GO 720 stutters since last update in December. High speaker volume is never used and the unit is used infrequently for short durations. The unit is less than 5 months old.

    I have the same problem after an version update. I also now have the screen with three distinct lines arross it. One 1/3 down, the 2nd 2/3 down. The screens is different brightness on the three sections and it flickers in brightness.

    I have been having the same problem, keeping it fully charged and running with the power source and freeing up some memory helped to an extent.

TomTom Home now has a fix which corrects the stuttering problems with the computer voice needed for the 'text to speech' function on the GO720. Simply plug your device into your computer and have it connect with your computer. You should automatically see a large fix available which will correct the problem. Download it as I did, and the problem is corrected.

My 930 did the same. I ran TomTom home, installed all the updates that it recommended and it worked fine. If that doesn't work, your speaker may be going, and you might be eligible for replacement under warranty if it is defective.

How do i load favorites into my tomtom 720.please set out steps
Depending on the operating system of your TomTom you should be able to tap the screen then tap the forward arrow until you see "add favorite". Tap "add favorite" then tap "address", then tap "street and house number". Type in the city. This will bring up a screen with several cities on it. Select the city you want, then type in the street name. the next screen will let you put the street number in. tap done. Tap OK on the next screen.

Certain functions not working? tomtom go 720
This happens with my cell phone all the time too, just have to go to manage phones and delete my phone then re-configure it and that seems to fix it for a while at least. Also night & day always has to be done manually, it won't change automatically that i'm aware of. I'm pretty sure i had to download some of the free voices from the TomTom Home or website initially, in any case i prefer to use my TomTom 720 without voice as becomes annoying listening all day nag nag nag blah blah blah.

Engine stuttering
have you replaced your O2 censor yet? or changed your air filter lately. I know our avenger is pretty picky we had a dirty air filter once and it seemed like the O2 censor went out because it kept trying to shut off when the idle was lower. a new air filter did a bit for it then we got a censor reader that you plug into the brain box of the car or the cigarette lighter and it told us the O2 was out and our car was doing the low idle thing. after we fixed it no problems.

My Tom Tom XL 330 S doesn't name the streets-just says TURN HERE
Hi,

When you choose a voice on your tomtom device, you will need to select a voice with the word 'computer' next to gender of the voice you select.

this will activate two option on the next screen allowing you to tick read street names.

TomTom go720 computer voice stutters street names
Hi Guys,

This is a problem with the application v8.300
if you are using a map v8.XX or higher you will need to wait for the next appilcation update which should fix this.
if you are using a map vv7.XX or lower, you can remove the 8.300 application from your device and download v7.481 by updating your tomtom again, this will revert your application to an earlier version which you can use until the next application is released.

Late response on turn-by-turn voice directions- garmin nuvi 760
Hi, my 760 had the same problem, and a stutter when speaking street names. I fixed both by upgrading the software to v4.60 using the Garmin Webupdater.

Memory expantion
If TT Go720:
- Buy a SD card, the faster the better..
- Choose between a SD or SDHC card.
- Mount in card slot, and your done...

The unit will read from both internal and SD card at the same time.

Example:
- Make a folder on sd card named "mp3"
- Put some mp3 somgs in there, and they will appear in the Music and Media option on the unit...

Speaking the names of major streets
It will only tell you the names of the streets if you use the COMPUTER voice. The other voices will not announce street names. So go to your voice selection and pick the computer voice...either male or female.
