JVC GR-D350U Digital Video Camera "Communication Error"

My battery will not charge and when I plug in my power cord to tape I get a "communication error". The picture it shows indicates that there is a problem between the camera and my battery. I have only owned it 4 months and have used the battery before to tape with no problem. I am thinking the battery is bad and/or the power cord is no good. Any other thoughts?

Ok, I have the same problem as posted here. I owned my camera for about six months when the problem started. As for having a cheap battery... I have the original battery that came with the camera. If anyone knows of a solution or somewhere that can fix it for a reasonable cost. Let me know please.

Just found a workaround for the "cheap battery" problem. The problem is that there is some circuitry in the more expensive JVC batteries that the generics don't have. When this isn't detected by the camcorder, it won't function. It's a neat trick to make you buy the proprietary battery. Also suspecting that with the JVC battery, if the circuitry gets fried for some reason, the battery will no longer work. Well, the generic battery I have has a plug in the back of it so you can charge it with the JVC factory supplied charger. There was also a jumper cord supplied with the camcorder. Plug this in the back of your cheap battery, plug the other end into your DC port on your camera, and voila! You're in business. Downsides are that you have a short cord between the battery and camcorder and the battery indicator won't work so you'll need a spare.

I have exactly the same problem! Just looking on the net for a solution myself. I don't think that there is anything wrong with the batteries - have a feeling its the camera. Looking for my receipt and going back to the store today. had the camera since August 06 (7 months).

Jvc HDD battery communication error

Did your battery came with a small, short cable? If yes:
- turn off the camera
- plug the cable in the camera but DO NOT attache the battery to the camera
- turn on the camera
- if the camera is working, than the battery is working.
- tape off with electrical tape the battery terminals - all of them. Now you can attach the battery to the camera.

Communication error?!

I'm betting you bought an aftermarket battery and not an original JVC battery. The error message you are getting is caused by the camcorder not being able to read the charge sensor in the battery. Some of the aftermarket batteries neglect to put that sensor in the battery, or have a sensor which does not match the OEM sensor in a factory battery. Try an original JVC battery. Is this solution answered your question bu sure to rate it. Thanks!

Digital Cam

If your batteries are NOT JVC batteries, then the problem is with your batteries. JVC batteries have some "smart circuitry" in them that helps the camera know and tell you how much juice is left. After about 20 seconds, the camera gives up trying to get the info from the non-JVC batteries and displays the communication error.

Real JVC batteries could fix the issue.

Camcorder (used only twice)now says communication error

Try using the orijinal JVC battery, sometimes compatible batteries cause this kind of problems.

You have a clogged video head. Use a dry type head cleaner and follow the instructions. Better use the best tapes you can afford, since tape quality can keep you from having this problem, and tape cleaners can gradually damage your camera. Good luck
