What have you tried? without knowing anything else, one suggestion is to make sure you are using the correct unlock key number. There are at least three numbers located on the disk.

SOURCE: garmin nuvi 750 won't say street names after upgrade to 2009 maps

User's manual available at www.garmin.com. Select "support", then "Manuals". Enter "mobile electronics"+"automotive"+"model #". Manual says that selecting a language with a person's name will speak street names.

You will need to fully uninstall the garminmapupdater_naeu_g.exe and then reinstall it to correct this problem. Also install free antivirus software and keep that updated and running to prevent bad files from downloading on your harddrive. Click on the link below to read more:

SOURCE: I want to delete maps from my Garmin Nuvi 1450 LMT

    • 1 Remove the SD card from the Garmin GPS.
    • 2 Insert SD card into your computer's card reader.
    • 3 Open the "My Computer" in either the desktop or the start button.
    • 4 Double click the SD card folder to open it.
    • 5 Hold "Ctrl" on your keyboard and left click on all the map files in the folder. Once they are all highlighted, right click and select "Copy."
    • 6 Go to your desktop, right click and select "Paste." You have created backup copies of the maps in your Garmin GPS. Return to the SD card folder via "My Computer."
    • 7 Select the map file you wish to delete, left click it once and press both "Shift" and "Delete" on your keyboard.
    • 8 Return the SD card into Garmin GPS. Turn it on. Check the screen to see if the right map has been deleted. If any mistakes are made, simply start over from step 1. Replace any map that has been accidentally deleted.

    • OR Insert one end of the USB cable into the USB port on the Garmin. Insert the other end of the cable into the USB port on the computer.
    • 2 Click on the desktop "Start" menu, and chose the "Computer" folder.
  1. 3 Right-click on the Garmin drive folder, and select "Open." Some Garmin GPS devices (e.g., Nuvi 200 through 800 series devices) will have the map files stored here. Browse this folder for maps you want to remove, right-click on the file and select "Delete." If no map files are available, go to step 4.

  • 4 Double-click to open the "Map" folder.
  • 5 Right-click on any map file that you want to remove, and select "Delete."

Nuvi 610 memory is full what can i do

Ok, so you want to upgrade the map on your Nuvi. You connect your Nuvi to the PC, you go to the Garmin website and your told that you don't have enough memory left on your Nuvi for the upgrade.

    What can you do?

It seems every year, the map file gets larger and requires more free space on your Nuvi.

Not all Nuvi's are created alike. Some Nuvi's have more memory than others. Some Nuvi's, like the lower-end 2xx/2xxW series have such a limited memory, that they can only hold the lower 48 states map.

So, if your Nuvi has adequate storage space (1.6GB required for 2014) but you can't upgrade to a newer map due to a "not enough memory space" warning, there are a few things you can try to free up memory.

    1. Delete any MP3's or photos that you may have added.
    2. Delete any unused voices that you don't need.
    3. Delete any unused vehicles that you don't need.
    4. Delete any screen snapshots that you may taken with your Nuvi.
    5. Delete the GUPDATE.GCD file.
    6. Delete the PDF user manual.

You can always copy these files over to a folder on your PC before you delete them from your Nuvi.

Don't delete any files that you don't know what they are, as they could affect the normal operation of your Nuvi.

If you don't want to clear up free memory on your Nuvi, you may try loading the map onto a SD card.

Does your Garmin Nuvi 1390 Freeze at Loading Maps?
Does it lock up or stop working?

This tip will describe how to perform a hard reset of the device, and how to backup your 'Favorites' in case the hard reset erases them. The next step in fixing your Nuvi when it doesn't start properly is to update its system software using Garmin WebUpdater.

A hard reset (or Clear All User Data) has been known to resolve unit quirks and strange behavior. It's generally recommended to perform it after a firmware update but is not required by any means. However, if you're seeing quirks and strange behavior with your unit after the firmware update, it is a good idea to do a hard reset of the unit.

Backup and Restoration Procedure for Favorites:

The Hard Reset procedure has been known to delete your Favorites, so back them up beforehand.

    1. From the Nuvi drive, copy '/Garmin/GPX/current.gpx' to a backup location on your computer.
    2. After the hard reset, copy your backed up 'current.gpx' from your computer back to the '/Garmin/GPX/' folder on the Nuvi, but be sure to rename it 'temp.gpx'.
    3. On the next power cycle, the Favorites will be read from 'temp.gpx' into the non-user accessible memory area on the Nuvi where they are actually stored.
    Perform the Hard Reset:

*Note that this will clear all user selected settings on the unit

    1. Power the unit off.
    2. Remove the battery and wait several minutes.
    3. Install the battery.
    4. Press and hold (and continue to hold) the bottom-right corner of the screen while powering the unit on.
    5. Continue to hold the screen until the "Do you want to erase all user data?" prompt appears.
    6. Press "yes" and the unit will reboot. This resets all your location settings and user preferences.

If possible after the hard reset, let the unit sit outdoors in the open for about 30 minutes or so to let the unit re-acquire the satellite almanac data.

You have now performed a hard reset of your Garmin Nuvi 1390 series GPS unit.

    I hope that helps.

Garmin Nuvi 660 lost Europe maps

Eventually managed to speak to a man at Garmin who confirmed that it was not loading any European maps because it didn't have enough spare memory to load them all. He said that he would email me instructions for freeing up sufficient memory, the email never arrived but I decided to delet all the voice languages that were no use to me and all the other language 'help' files and tried again - it worked.
At no point did I get a 'insufficiant memory' warning, which would have been very helpful, nor is there any guidance for how much memory will be required when embarking on the update. Take note Garmin...

    NUVI 310

you will need to erase a file from the units memory. Connect your GPS system to your computer; go to start then ‘My Computer’, and double click on your device file (mass storage system), there you will see a folder named ‘Garmin’. In this folder are several different files, look for file named gmapsupp.img. Right hand click on this file and delete as this file is causing the maps to lock.

    Hello parteeboy24,

The on board memory in your Nuvi 200 may not have enough free space to hold the map. You may be able to free up some space by deleting maps or language packs that you don't use. (Be careful to back up any files you are going to delete.) Or you can add an optional SD memory card to the unit to increase the storage capacity on the GPS.

    Best Regards,
