SOURCE: Why does my new iPad get so hot when I play games on it?

Hi Jessica,

Much to your chagrin I bet, there's not too many options besides "play it less" if you want to cool your new iPad down. If the heat is an issue for you now it is probably going to continue to be an issue for you later.

Having said that, there are a couple ways I have used that seems to cool down the iPad by a few degrees:

 • Turn down your screen brightness. This is the best way for you to avoid heating issues. Your new iPad probably came out of the box with brightness turned all the way up. If you turn that down you will notice a decrease in heat immediately.
 • Use Wi-Fi instead of 4G LTE whenever possible. Now obviously you can't do this everywhere, but whenever possible you should access the internet via Wi-Fi and avoid riding your 4G LTE chip. That baby is power hungry and will heat up quick.
 • Give your A5X chip a break. In less technical terms, try not to play graphics heavy games (like Infinity Blade) for an extended period of time. Like you said in your question, that's when you experience the most heat discomfort. If it is at all possible for you to take even a short break (like 10 minutes every hour) from gaming, it should do a lot to keep the heat down.

I hope that helps you out!

SOURCE: I was just playing a game and the back of my iPad got really hot

You don't say which iPad, but if it is the newest one, it is said that it will will run up to 10 degrees warmer that the older ones. It should be nothing to worry about as long as you aren't using it is direct sunlight. One thing you can do that should help is to open up the multitasking bar (the app bar that shows all the apps open) and close some of them. It also should be covered by the warranty. If it get so hot that it can burn your skin, I would bring it back to store for replacement, but you should be ok. Don't be surprised if this is fixed by a future patch just like the iPhone 4s battery issue was fixed. Also, if it burns out and it obviously not your fault, it is covered under the warranty.

Game of thrones ad freezes and the iPad must be turned off. Can you fix bug?

To reset an iPad, press both the home button and the on / off button, till the iPad switches off. Then wait a minute or so (till the Apple loge is from the screen) then switch on again. Also delete all open apps, by pressing the home button twice and swipe all apps up. This will clear the memory and make the running app more reliable.

Why has my iPad stopped playing videos

Sometimes the iPad develops glitches, like all computers, that can only be resolved by cycling the power.
 • Hold down the power button until the <POWER OFF> dialog appears.
 • Swipe to accept the power-off and wait a minute for it to completely shutdown.
 • Restart the iPad as usual and check your video state.
You might also check the Apple store for updates when you've restored power, just to make sure that it is has all its bug-fixes and updates.

My Ipad Mini keeps shutting off automatically, then turns back on. When the home screen is shown it just keeps glitching and shutting off. Whats wrong with it?

I would first try doing a hard reset. Hold the home and power button down simultaneously until the iPad completely turns off and the Apple logo appears. You can ignore the slide to turn off button when it appears.
If that doesn't solve the issue I would make an appointment with your local Apple Store and have the device checked out by an Apple Genius.
Hope that helps!

When i try to go on to apps store, it doesn't do anything but keeps on loading

That's probably a glitch in the app. Try close the app in the multi tasking bar, restart the iPad and try open the app again! see if that solves your problem!

IBook hanging up on ipad

Have you downloaded the latest update of iOS and iBooks? iOS will be in iTunes when you connect your device, iBooks will be in the app store. Apple often releases updates which deal with bugs like this.
Hope that helped!
