On these models, the oven must be pulled from the wall mount, then the outer cover must be removed. This is apparently to limit the manufacturer's liability. Removing the microwave from the wall is really a two-person job, since it is heavy and awkward. You don't want it to fall or slip, and the edges can be sharp. It helps a lot if you saved the original installation instructions. Once the oven is out of the wall, you can then access the lamp socket. These bulbs are special halogen types that must not be touched by bare hands, since skin oils will shorten their life. The first step is to unplug the oven before changing bulbs!

I have a diagram at my site which helps you find & replace many GE cooktop and cavity light bulbs. It's at http://207.234.249.73/mwd/ge_lamp_replacement.jpg

SOURCE: Where is the light bulb located?

If there's no obvious removable cover over the bulb (and the owner's manual doesn't address it) some disassembly may be required.

I have a diagram at my site which helps you find & replace many GE cooktop and cavity light bulbs. Other models are similar.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and for many brands by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

If it's an over the range type, remove the vent grille across the top and see if bulbs can be accessed there.

There may be a panel on the bottom covering the light(s), instead.

If not, chances are you'll have to remove it from the wall, then remove the outer cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

Once your over the range type is out of the wall, or if yours is a counter top model, the outer cover (wrapper) will need to be removed.

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, and a special driver (such as a T20H Torx type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

Bulbs can be had in most grocery stores, hardware stores, home improvement centers, and big box or department stores.

Many models use halogen lamps. You must not touch the new one with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

TO BIGDEEL

Do you mean your internal cooling fan or the hood / vent / exhaust fan?

If it's ther internal cooling fan, do not use the microwave or the magnetron will overheat and be damaged or destroyed.

The light bulb assembly (bulb and socket are all one piece) is part number
WB36X951.

It is located on the air duct assembly where the door switches are mounted.

You can see an exploded view diagram here.

You'll need to remove the outer cover (wrapper) to get to the bulb assembly.

Always unplug a microwave before removing or installing any bulbs.

See these links before proceeding:

The screws you need to remove should be pretty obvious, but a special driver (such as a T20H type or GTXH20-100) may be needed.

Be sure to put all the screws back in the right holes, since some may be special grounding screws.

If you're not able to find the bulb assembly at your local appliance parts store, you can order one here.

How do I replace the interior light in the Panasonic Microwave NN-SD297SR? The microwave is installed above my range. How do I access the light bulb inside the microwave to replace it?

According to videos, Panasonic require removal of the case. Some manufacturers including Panasonic have a small access door on the outside and my Panasonic Catering microwave did.

How to change light bulb in bosch model HMB5051/01 microwave?

The light is behind a small mesh area in the front right. This probably means that either you have to take the oven out and there is a rear access door, or you slide the oven partially out and reach the bulb from above.

Changing the lamp in microwave of GE model pt970srss

If it is at all like a plain microwave oven, you will have to remove the screw for the cover to access the insides and likely will find that the light is not a simple screw-in bulb but a sealed package with a spare of spade terminals on top. It may be held in by one or more screws.
It is possible that this could be like a new conventional oven where you have to remove a light cover inside the cavity to access the bulb and change it

Changing interior light bulb on GE jes1289sk

I have had this trouble before but with a different model. There may be a plastic screen inside the microwave that will just pop off exposing the bulb. Now all you will need to do is to find out what type of bulb you will need to change the other bulb. I hope this made things easier on you.

Trying to change the light bulb on my kenmore microwave model #72162369200. How do you get to it?

Not sure on your model but my Kenmore Microwave has the bulb up above the plastic ceiling inside.
It's semi-rigid so you flex it slightly and the tangs come free and it comes down.

Kenmore Microwave 721.66319 500 Light buld gone out - now what?

First of all, since this will involve disassembly, we have *critical* safety & disassembly info at our site in our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams for your Kenmore model here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com

Enter your model number as 721.66319500.

The light bulb is shown in the "LATCH BOARD PARTS" diagram and it's located in the area of the door switches.

Manufacturers used to include access panels in the rear or side so you could easily change the bulb. That exposed the customer to 110V connectors, and that posed a real liability threat, so they stopped using them.

You now must generally remove the outer cover to replace the bulb.

It's best not to touch the bulb with bare skin, as the oils can shorten thee bulb's life. And I recommend a high quality bulb from places like Home Depot, instead of cheap types from the grocery store.

In many over-the-range models, that can mean having to take the oven down from the wall! For safety's sake, that should be a two-person job and it's really helpful if you have your original installation instructions to do this.

Many models use one halogen lamp to illuminate the cooktop and another to illuminate the cavity. You must not touch them with your bare skin as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

Interior light gone out

There is usually a little window inside that might remove with screws, or even snap in. That should allow access to the lamp. Check the manufactures website under product support for more info.
