Try to boot to "safe mode" by pressing F8 frequently after switched on, choose safe mode. If it works then restart your pc. If it doesn't you can use OS CD to recover, choose start up repair.

Just bought a Satellite & had same problem. Toshiba Support confirmed the 'Processor Power Management' fix. Within both the Min AND Max Processor State options you should set BOTH the Battery and Power Adapter options to 100%

You are going to think I am nuts....but go to the Norton Support site and get the Norton Removal Software from them and remove the Norton program. The boot the laptop off the Windows Vista disc. Once the windows files load, choose your windows installtion....it will most likely be the only one on the list. Once you choose it, choose repair as the option. Windows will scan your windows installation for errors and repair them if it can by using the files on the cd drive. Once it is done with that, reboot the laptop, take the disc out after it reboots, you don't want to boot off the disc again.
Now, follow the guide below to install some anti-malware and a free anti-virus that does not eat up all your system resources.

Possible Virus and Malware

There is a good chance that you have a virus or malware that is keeping those programs from opening. It does not matter these days what security you have if the door to the web is opened. At the end of this are two links to programs that you should load up and run. The first is MalwareBytes Ant-Malware Tool, the other is Avast Anti-Virus 4.8, install these two and let them perform scans.

Run MalwareBytes first and perform a quick scan, when it finishes, it will ask you to post the results, when it does delete everything it finds.
Run Avast and install it, when it asks, go ahead and schedule a pre-boot scan of your entire system. This should get rid of most problems….

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem a computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end for a computer to be able work properly

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust

if you remove the graphics card to clean the socket replace it

Unable to delete or print Microsoft Word document. Get the following message: "error processing command."

Please uninstall the printer software on your PC and do a full clean up of your system. Clean the registery, the temperory files, cookies, defragment and use an antivirus scan. Then reinstall the printer software and connect your printer to be detected and installed. Now try to print your document. I am sure it will work. there is a possible chance that some files got erased off on your system, hence you must always try to clean up and scan your PC in a time schedule. Hope this helps.Good day

Hard drive full computer slow

You will have to empty a lot of your hard drive to build up your speed. Trash what you no longer want and transfer other things, like photos to CD's or DVD's or a zip drive. Go to staples and ask their techie to show you what options are available.

I have a gateway and am not very good with it yet. when i turn it on it shows a threat detected, trojan horse psw generic.bejdc./roger/locals //temp/123.dll. i have avg 7.5 virus protection ihave used both...

Check to see if AVG has the option to scan the computer before windows start. I would also download and install a Spyware Scanner and run it. Usually when you are running a Spyware scan it will also pick up some of the Trojans and help your virus scanner detect and clean more viruses. I personally use SuperAntispyware ( www.superanitspyware.com) and SpyBot ( www.safer-networking.org/ ). Do a full scan and delete everything that if finds. If for some reason you are still having this issue, try restarting your computer into safe mode ( by pressing F8 when computer is booting up) and scanning every in safe mode.

Hope this helps.
