Just moved the computer to Panama. Turned it on to get an error message stating something about the memory, was running a test to correct. Let it run and after a while it shut down with a blinking amber.Powered down and up, blinking amber gone, but front power indicator was flashing. Press power but and I get no action. Is this dead or is their a reset I should be looking for?
Never just plug in any Disktop or worskstation or server when just moved. ok?.
i see now the power PSU is universal. (no switch for line voltage or freq)
1: open side. left.
2: see if CPU fan or fan and CPU fell out of the socket !!!!
3 reseat all DMM ram sticks next, learn how first , do not force them 4: look for connector lose or fell off, HDD cables first.
get it fixed in a real shop, out of question?
you turn it on FANS are first. PSU fan must spin and blow, CPU fan must spin and blow.
first things first.
then BIOS screens work 2nd.
then booting HDD is 3rd.
the Fans must all spin
if not they are dead, (no never all at once)
the sensors not showing overheated or disconnected.
The System runs extensive POST tests, and if fails shuts off fast, (to prevent damage)
the manual has troubleshooting pages. read those?

The PC BIOS will show POST errors, write them down.
or beep codes.
LOOK AT THE CPU closely, they love to come AJAR
with any shipper, but one, DHL.
i looked at your PSU
its clearly labled, 100 to 240vac, rated,
read the manual first, see what it says about POWER.
55amps at 12vdc, very strong.
The amber system(RTM in dell manual)
-
status indicator flashes when the system needs attention due to a problem with power supplies, fans,
system temperature, or SCSI hard drives.
something is dead.

I would start with reseating the RAM and disconnecting and reconnecting motherboard and system connections as there is a chance that something got rattled in shipping.
Where was it before it was in Panama? Maybe the power system is different and you might need a different power supply?
SOURCE: dell server poweredge 1800 frequently shutdown
is there an error message that appears? can you check error logs? I need more information to be able to help you. I would first try to blow dust out of the fans, as it may be over heating, another possibility is that there is software on the machine that is causing it to shut down.
SOURCE: flashing redlight on the front
Yes. Here are some things that could be an issue:
a problem with power supplies, fans, system temperature, or SCSI hard drives.
Install the Dell Open Manager software to run diagnostic. It will tell you what needs to be fixed.
SOURCE: Flshing Red Light on Dell Poweredge 1800 Server
I finally made contact with our IT dept who were abole to carry out a remote diagnostic test.
Problem has now been identified (problem with tape drive)
SOURCE: power edge loght is red and blinking
You
should be able to see the reasons in the front panel, remove the
front cover and you will see a small display with some information
passing slowly. Sometimes is just the redundant power-supply that is
disconnected.
SOURCE: No power on my PowerEdge 1800 Server
dells power supplies must come from dell. I would call dell and give then the service tag number of your server and they will be able to tell you about how much a power supply is.
