Uniden cordless phones

My phone has two handsets. Both handsets have suddenly stopped working. The speakerphone on the base works. Both handset screens show readouts and if I dial a number the screen shows the seconds being ticked off--but no dialtone or any sound on either handsets. The mute is off. Privacy is off. Everything is plugged in and the charge light is lit when the handsets are on their bases. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like the register-deregister problem elsewhere on this page. Try holding down the "end" and "#" buttons for about 6 seconds to deregister the phones and then reregister them. I had this problem too and it worked for me.

How to register a new handset?

Unfortunately, the EXI5560 is not an expandable cordless telephone system. The base can only use the handset to which it was originally linked at the factory.

Similarly, the DXA15588 handsets need to be paired to that base, not just to any Uniden cordless phone base. The first handset gets registered while it is charging in the main base. Charge the second handset fully in the charging base. Make sure not to use the phone for any incoming calls during the registration process. Take the first handset off the main base. You do not have to put this handset on the other charger and put second handset on the main base. Wait for the Charge/In Use LED to begin to flash. Wait at least another 5 seconds before removing the second handset from the main base. That's when you should be able to use the find HS button on the DXA15588-2 main base to get both handsets to beep.

I hope this helps. You can find the manuals for these phones at the following sites: https://www.uniden.info/download/ompdf/EXI5560om.pdf and https://www.uniden.info/download/ompdf/DXAI5588-2om.pdf .

How do I turn on my speakerphone for my Uniden EXP4540?

Sorry, Uniden EXP4540 2.4 GHz does not have a speaker phone feature. The cordless phone features AutoTalkâ„¢ and AutoStandbyâ„¢. AutoTalkâ„¢ allows you to answer a call by just removing the handset from the base so you don't have to waste time pushing buttons. AutoStandbyâ„¢ allows you to hang up by simply returning the handset to the base. You can check it's manual with this link http://www.uniden.com/pdf/EXP4540om.pdf.
Thanks for using fixya!

I am having problem with my cordless phone.

Another tip is to remove the battery from the handset for at least 5 seconds. You might want to get a voltage meter and check the voltage on that new battery - maybe it isn't charging properly.

How to set up uniden phone to base

If the handset has previously worked with the base - press the hangup button and the # key at the same time on the handset for five seconds and follow the prompts to deregister the handset. (System reset - deregister HS - which handset) It will tell you that the handset is deregistered. Then put the handset onto the base and it will register the handset.

ELBT595 Handset Not Turning On

Check the handset battery -- if there is a slight "bulge" on one side (ie: not COMPLETELY flat) then the problem is with the battery. I had that problem and had to order a new one. That said, I just installed the new battery, and while it now charges, the handset won't connect to the base unit. The base unit works (tried the speakerphone), but there is not connection between base and handset.

Here is a link to Uniden's site, and on the right side of the page, there is a link for a download manual pdf and helpline

also worth checking if any buttons are stuck, or if the handset is set to pulse rather than tone mode, or if it has had a tumble or knock, possibly the keypad connector has come loose .

Hope this helps.
