Bad audio - Sony BM-147 Transcriber

In the middle of my transcription, the audio starting having a vibration sound to it -- almost like an echo, and it's nearly impossible to understand what is being said. The machine has worked fine for two years, when all of the sudden I'm having an extremely difficult time understanding anything. I've tried turning the VCS on and playing with the speed and pitch, but that doesn't solve the problem. HELP!!!!!!!!

This is a common symptom when the belt and pinch roller wear out. They will both need replacement.

SONY BM-147 TRANSCRIBER

If there is no sound on a channel, and you know the recording is there, then you either have a bad head or a broken wire at the tape head.
