Sony FD Trinitron WEGA Standby Light Blinks, TV Does Not Turn On

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420
Red Standby Light Blinks 6 times (repeatedly with small interval between each cycle of 6). I try to turn TV on; it begins to come on (as second or so) but then shuts off. I see that other people have logged/ reported same issue. Any ideas? The manual says it probably needs service.

The red standby light on my set Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-27FS100 27 is flashing 5 times, pauses 3 sec and repeats this pattern. When the Tv was still powered on w/ a picture, I made sure to access the menu for the standby timer. It was set to off. This supports the 5 blinks being a diagnostic to "turn up the screen". This makes perfect sense because since there were no more firmware updates available for this model and cable TV became more and more HD, 3 independent lines of red, green and blue wound up at the top of the picture. Since that time I recall the 5 red blinking lights which suggest turning up the picture. HOW to turn up the picture? Or what resolution and settings should I select using the Sony or cable remote to fix the picture at least, and maybe, get it out of the mode with diagnostic red blinking lights. Any tips to get it to power on and restore its use without having to bring it to a service center are appreciated. the TV is 100+ lbs, I'm not a big girl, it's not like I can just lift it like a 5 lb weight and say hey, check this out and let me know what you can do. And as much as I love the look of the screen and the picture when it's worked well, it's an older tv out of warranty, so investing in repair fees and pricey parts doesn't make sense. I'd just like to get it to work to buy time on finding a set I'd like to replace it. Thank you.

Mine was messed up, light kept blinking, tv went on then off a few seconds later. I unplugged it for 4 hours. During that time, I shook it, rocking it back and forth. When I plugged it back in, it went on and stayed on. Worth a try.

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with
troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one
circuit board or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

My KV-34HS420 won't come on and the Standby light

The system has found issues with your TV.. The only solution is to call in service. Tell them the 6 blinks.. it is a code for diagnostics. Sorry.. the logic portion of the TV is experiencing some kind of breakdown. The only suggestion that I can offer is to hard reset your TV to factory settings.. other than that you are in duck soup..

Sorry...
