hello waiyasin, this altec lancing don't need a driver, it just plug and play hardware. if there is a problem with the driver, try to install sound driver from your motherboard driver. if u use external sound card, try to install sound driver from the sound card driver. if u have problem how to install the driver then u just need open the device manager. u can find it on control panel. once u open the device manager window, insert motherboard driver (or sound card driver if u use external driver) into CD Rom. in device manager window u will find sound or audio device, right click it and choose update driver then follow the instruction. that's it.

With your problem, you may want to download a software called ASTRA32, with this link,

After downloading, please install it,(just follow on screen instructions) then RUN it. It may take a while to run it the first time (depending on your system configuration).
After a while, you will se a windows listing all your system information, driver names, etc.
Just click on the button that says "DRIVERS" with an exclamation point.
Here it will show you all hardware which does not have the correct drivers installed, which in your case no driver has been installed yet. Just browse down on the right window pane to see the complete hardware name of your sound card. It will be listed there as "Problem Device" and just look for the device name. After you have known the device name, you can either go to the device manufacturers website or search for the drivers using any search engine of you choice, such as Google.

You need to know what kind of sound card you have first.You need to open control panel then click on system then click on device manager then click on sound, video and game controllers. The name of your sound card should be in there. Once you know the name of your sound card then go to the manufactures website and down load the drivers you need.

Possibilities are that sound driver might have been corrupted during restore.
So try reinstalling the driver from the mother board's driver cd.
It should do the job for you.
Rarely the worse happens when the mother board's sound card is corrupted, even so you can add an adiitional sound card to mother board and can get back the sound..
But mostly it is the first situation you are facing,.. so reinstalling the sound card driver should do the job for you. It is only the software oriented problem
